Release description
===================
This is the Matrox Windows NT display driver for Parhelia graphics
cards. It supports Microsoft Windows NT for x86 CPU's, version 4.0
(Build 1381 or later).
This product includes:
- Display driver
- Matrox PowerDesk for Windows NT 4.0
Installation
============
To install your Matrox display driver and Matrox PowerDesk
software, start the included "Setup" program, then follow the
on-screen instructions.
The setup program will only install software if a Matrox graphics
card model supported by the setup program is installed in your
computer.
Using Matrox PowerDesk
======================
For more information on using Matrox PowerDesk software, see the
PowerDesk guide ("online.doc") included with this software.
Notes, problems, and limitations
================================
- Service Pack 4 or later recommended
To avoid potential problems, we recommend you install Service
Pack 4 (or later) for Windows NT 4.0.
- Problems after installing a new graphics card
Due to a known problem in Windows NT 4.0, Windows may not
restart properly the first time after a new graphics card is
installed. For example, Windows may restart in VGA mode (640 x
480 resolution, 16 colors) or the display may go blank. Because
of a work-around in the Matrox display driver, restarting your
computer a second time may resolve the problem. However, if you
experience this problem, we recommend you add the "/PCILOCK"
switch to the "boot.ini" file of Windows. Add this after
"Windows NT Workstation Version 4.00" under "[operating
systems]".
- OpenGL support
Note the following limitations related to the OpenGL (3D) driver
included with your Matrox display driver:
- Hardware acceleration isn't supported while using an 8 bpp
(256 colors) color palette.
