To prepare for installation of the drivers
1 Start Microsoft Windows 95.
2 Click the Start button, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
3 Double-click Display, and click the Settings tab.
4 Click Advanced Properties, click the Adapter tab, then click Change.
5 Select Show all devices.
6 Select the Standard display types from the Manufacturers list.
7 Select Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA) from the list, then select OK.
8 Click Apply, click OK, then click Apply.
9 Click Yes when Windows asks if you wish to restart the computer.
To install the drivers
1 Click the Start button, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
2 Double-click Display, and click the Settings tab.
3 Click Advanced Properties, click the Adapter tab, then click Change.
4 Select Have Disk, then select or type the path to the driver files, then click
OK.
Windows should find files for your NVIDIA graphics chip. If Windows cannot
find the files, check that the path name for the diskette is correct and
that the correct diskette is inserted in it.
5 If Windows found the files, select OK.
Windows copies the files to the hard disk.
6 Click Apply, click OK, then click Apply.
7 Click Yes when Windows asks if you wish to restart the computer.

1. Quick Start
--------------
1) This version of SmartUSB56 drivers is only compatible with
Microsoft Windows XP and Windows 2000.
2) If any type of Smart Link modem is already installed in your
system and you want to update its' device driver, first
uninstall existing drivers (See Uninstall Procedure), and only
then proceed to install the new drivers.
To install your modem drivers for the first time:
-------------------------------------------------
a) Plug in the modem into a USB port.
b) Windows will instantly detect the modem and will start software
installation.
c) When requested, point to the drivers installtion directory on
the floppy disk or CD-ROM.
d) Modem drivers will be installed.

2. How to verify installation
-----------------------------
To verify that the modem is installed correctly, follow these steps:
a) Click "Start > Settings > Control Panel > Modem": check for the
presence of a "SmartUSB56 Modem".
b) In "Control Panel > Modems > Properties > Diagnostics" click on
"Query Modem" button and check that the modem responds.
To Check that the modem is working properly:
a) Open "Hyper Terminal".
b) Select the "SmartUSB56 Modem" or "Direct to port" option.
c) Type ATI1, ATI2 or ATI3 and make sure you receive the modem IDs.
Dial any accessible phone number, and see that that phone rings.
Dial to another modem (ATDTxxx or via the dial button of the
TAPI interface) and see that a modem session is established.
If you have successfully connected, then the modem has been
successfully installed.

3. Uninstall Procedure
----------------------
a) Click "Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs".
b) Select "SmartUSB56 Modem".
c) Click the "Add/Remove" button.
d) Modem drivers will be uninstalled. You may un-plug the modem
from the USB port.
