HARDWARE INSTALLATION :
When you are ready to Install the EX-6605E, please proceed with the following installation
instructions. Because the design of portable computer varies greatly, only general
installation instructions are given. Please refer your computer’s reference manual whenever
in doubt.
Turn off the power to your computer and any other connected peripheral’s. Insert the EX
-6605E to the PCMCIA BusCard Slot from your portable computer. Make sure the Card
is seated snugly and oriented correctly. Connect the cable with the FireWire 1394 and
USB 2.0 connector to the PCMCIA card. Now you can connect different FireWire 1394
or USB 2.0 Peripheral devices to the EX-6605E.
WINDOWS 98/98SE INSTALLATION FOR FIREWIRE :
INSTALL IEEE 1394 HOST ADAPTER DRIVER:
When your Windows system boots up, it will find a new hardware on your system called
“PCI FireWire (IEE 1394) Controller”, you will be prompted to install a device driver. The
Installation Wizard will guide you to install the “PCI OHCI compliant IEEE1394 Host
Controller ” drivers.
Click >Next< >Search< >Next< >Next<. Windows found the device driver in some
location (e.g. C:\WINDOWS\INF\1394.INF). Insert your Windows 98 CD into the CDROM
drive, click “Next” and >Finish<. Then restart Windows 98.
CHECK THE INSTALL DRIVER:
You can found in the Device Manager the following information about the EX-6605E.
Double click “1394 Bus Controller”. You should see the item “PCI OHCI compliant
IEEE1394 Host Controller ”. Check that no a yellow or red symbol beside the 1394 host
adapter entry.
WINDOWS 2000/XP INSTALLATION FOR FIREWIRE :
INSTALL IEEE 1394 HOST ADAPTER DRIVER:
When your Windows system boots up, it will find a new hardware on your system called
“PCI FireWire (IEEE 1394) Controller”, you will be prompted to install a device driver.
The Installation Wizard will guide you to install the „Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant
IEEE 1394 Host Controller“ drivers.
Click >Next< >Search< >Next< >Next<. Windows found the device driver in some
location (e.g. C:\WINDOWS\INF\1394.INF). If requested insert your Windows 2000 or XP
CD into the CD-ROM drive, click >Next< and >Finish<. Then restart Windows 2000 or
XP.

WINDOWS XP INSTALLATION FOR USB 2.0 :
Please go to "Windows Update" (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) to Install Microsoft
USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver or Windows XP Service Pack 2.
If you don’t have the Service Packs, you must install the driver from the CD. Insert the
Driver CD in your CD-ROM drive for example D: and open the directory:
D:\Usb 2.0\VIA\USB2_Host_Drivers
Start the file ”Setup.exe“ and follow the on-screen instructions to finish the installation.
Please restart your PC and put the card into the CardBus slot. Windows will recognize
and install the card automatically.
