Introduction
Thank you for purchasing this Super Speed USB3.0 ExpressCard that integrates 2
external downstream ports for Notebook PCs. It is the fastest USB card that is fully
compatible with the USB1.1, USB2.0, and USB3.0 specifications. It supports
USB3.0 Super Speed up to 5 gigabits per second (Gbps) which is 10 times of the
USB2.0 High Speed Mode.
The multiple connection architecture supports concurrent operation of up to 127
physical USB devices while maintaining top speeds. It will accommodate isochronous
transfer allowing real time applications such as telephony and audio full access
to the entire bus bandwidth, maximizing performance and efficiency.
Features:
• Fully ExpressCard/34mm Specification Compliant
• Supports 2 USB3.0 Host Downstream Ports (Type-A Connectors)
• Fully Compliant with USB3.0 and Intel xHCI Specifications
• Supports Low-Speed (1.5Mbps)/Full-Speed (12Mbps)/High-Speed (480Mbps)/
Super-Speed (5Gbps)
• Supports Control/Bulk/Interrupt/Isochronous Transfer
• Supports DC Jack to Inject USB Bus Power Externally for Each Port
• Supports Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 and more
3. Installing the USB 3.0 ExpressCard
The hot-plug feature of the ExpressCard makes the installation of the Card very
straightforward.
1. Before touching the Express Card, please touch any metal surface with your hand
to discharge any potential static.
2. With the color label facing up, insert the USb3.0 ExpressCard into the Notebook’s
Express Card slot.

3. “Add New Hardware Wizard” window displays. Refer to the Software Installation
Section of this manual to complete the hardware driver installations.
4. Installing USB cables
The USB3.0 ExpressCard has two external USB3.0 9-pin connectors. The following
table shows the cables can be used for this card (they are included with this ExpressCard).
You can plug the legacy USB2.0 devices with USB2.0 cables (5-pin to
5-pin) or the Super-Speed USB3.0 devices with USB3.0 cables (9-pin to 9-pin).
Host Side Connector Device Side Connector USB Modes
9-pin USB3.0 Type-A 9-pin USB3.0 Type-B USB3.0
9-pin USB3.0 Type-A 9-pin USB3.0 Mini-B USB3.0
5-pin USB2.0 Type-A 5-pin USB2.0 Type-B USB2.0
5-pin USB2.0 Type-A 5-pin USB2.0 Mini-B USB2.0
Up to 127 devices can be connected to the USB3.0 ExpressCard. No termination
problem has to be care about. Simply connect the USB devices to the ExpreesCard
using above USB cables.
Note: Since the USB3.0 specification needs the host to support at least
900mA bus power for each port. It is not possible for the ExpreesCard to
meet this high power requirement. Fortunately, most of cases, it won’t be a
problem if your device does not consume too much power. Otherwise, if your
device needs the full power from the USB port, a 5V/2A AC adapter (optional,
not included with this product) needs to be plugged to the ExpressCard’s mini
-DC-Jack on its right-side to inject enough power.

Introduction
Thank you for purchasing this family of USB3.0 PCI Express Card that integrates 2
external downstream ports. It is the fastest USB card that is fully compatible with the
USB1.1, USB2.0, and USB3.0 specifications. It supports USB3.0 Super Speed up to 5
gigabits per second (Gbps).
The card supports screw-lock USB cables that ensures the USB connection is secure
and won’t be loose accidently to increase its reliability.
The multiple connection architecture supports concurrent operation of up to 127 physical
USB devices while maintaining top speeds. It will accommodate isochronous transfer
allowing real time applications such as telephony and audio full access to the entire
bus bandwidth, maximizing performance and efficiency.
Features:
v Fully PCI Express Gen2 Specification Compliant
v Supports 2 USB3.0 Host Downstream Ports (Type-A Connectors)
v Fully Compliant with USB3.0 and Intel xHCI Specifications
v Supports Low-Speed (1.5Mbps)/Full-Speed (12Mbps)/High-Speed (480Mbps)/
Super-Speed (5Gbps)

Installing USB 3.0 PCI Express Card
1. Turn the system power OFF before installation!
2. Use static electricity discharge precautions.
Remove possible static discharge potential from any objects that the combo card
may come in contact with before installation. This can be accomplished by touching
a bare metal chassis rail after you have turned off the power.
3. Remove the chassis cover from your computer
4. Locate an unused PCI Express slot (typically white or black, and smaller than the
PCI slot) and remove the corresponding slot cover from computer chassis.
5. Plug the card to the unused PCI Express expansion slot and attach the USB3.0
PCI Express card bracket to the computer chassis screw.
6. Put the chassis cover back on the computer.
7. Turn ON the power of your computer and peripherals.
8. This USB card is compatible with both standard A-to-B (USB2.0 and USB3.0)
cable and Screw-Lock-Type USB cable. The following pictures are the close-up
for A-end and B-end connections:
Software Installation
The following table gives a summary for the OS supports of the USB3.0 PCI Express
Card, it needs to install the drivers supplied with the CD to function properly:
Super Speed USB 3.0 PCI Express Card w/Screw Lock Mechansim
1. When the first time the USB3.0 PCIe Card is installed, your Windows Wizard will
detect this new hardware and display the dialog box as follows:
2. You have 2 choices to install the drivers. The first is to follow the instructions of
the Windows’ Wizard to complete the whole installations.
3. Or we strongly recommend you click “Cancel” to abort the Windows’ Wizard installation,
and turn to run (by double-clicking) the Installer program (for example,
setup.exe file) in the E:\USB 3.0\NEC folder on the driver CD. Then follow the
instructions of the installer program to complete the installations. The reason that
we suggest to install with the Installer program is that you can uninstall with the
same Installer Program once you need to do it.
