HARDWARE INSTALLATION :
Attention! If you use Windows 98, ME, 2000 without service pack 4 or XP without
service pack. Please install the drivers for the Ex-11064 / 11065 first.
If you use Windows 2000 including service pack 4, or Windows XP including
service pack 1 & 2. Or you already installed the drivers please proceed with the
following instructions for hardware installation.
If you are ready with the jumper settings for the EX-1062/1064/1065, please proceed with
the following installation instructions. Because the designs of computers are different, only
general installation instructions are given. Please refer your computer’s reference manual
whenever in doubt.
1. Turn off the power to your computer and any other connected peripherals.
2. Remove the mounting screws located at the rear and/or sides panels of your Computer
and gently slide the cover off.
3. If your pc case do have a front panel please follow the instructions at J5 above.
Normally the cables should be marked if not please ask the front panel manufacturer
4. If necessary please install now the external power supply to the card like shown at
JP2 & J6 above.
5. Locate an available PCI-Express expansion slot and remove its covers from the rear
panel of your computer.
6. Align the EX-1062/1064/1065 with the expansion slot, and then gently but firmly,
insert the card. Make sure the card is seated and oriented correctly.
7. Then connect the card with a screw to the rear panel of the computer.
8. Gently replace your computer’s cover and the mounting screws.
DRIVER INSTALLATION :
Windows 98 and ME
Please insert the driver CD into your CD-Rom drive (for example D:\ ) and open the
folder D:\USB 2.0\NEC\WIN9.x on the CD.
Now start the file “U2v2_1.exe“ by double click on your mouse and follow the setup
program to finish installation process. After that shut down windows and follow the
instructions for the Hardware installation. After installing the card simply start your
computer and the card will be recognized automatically by your system.
CHECK INSTALLED DRIVER:
Open the >Device manager< . Now you should see at „USB Devices“ the following new
entry:
If you see this or a similar information the EX-1062/1064/1065 is installed correctly.
Windows 2000 and 2000 Server
Should you use Windows 2000 with service pack 4 you don’t need any drivers. The
drivers are already integrated in Windows and the EX-1062/1064/1065 will be installed
automatically.
Should you use Windows 2000 without service pack 4 please insert the driver CD into your
CD-Rom drive (for example D:\ ) and open the folder D:\USB 2.0\NEC\WIN9.x on the CD.

Should you use Vista or Windows XP with service pack 1 you don't need any drivers.
The drivers are already integrated in Windows and the EX-1062/1064/1065 will be
installed automatically.
Should you use Windows XP without any service pack please insert the driver CD into
your CD-Rom drive (for example D:\ ) and open the folder D:\USB 2.0\NEC\WIN9.x on the
CD.

Directory Layout:
\Win98&ME: VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller driver and filter drivers for Windows ME and Windows 98/SE.
\Filter_nt: This folder contains two filter drivers for Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
\QFE: This folder contains Microsoft Windows 2000 QFEs for USB 2.0 Host Controller under Windows 2000 SP3.
In order to conform the redistribution agreement between Microsoft and VIA, only SETUP.EXE can be used to install driver in Windows 2000.
2.0 System Requirement
This setup program will install the driver for VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller. Before the setup program starts running, please make sure the using computer has an IBM PC-compatible system.
VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller driver package can be operated under following operating systems:

3.0 Driver Limitations
The driver limitation that came across in VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller is that only USB wakeup from S3 (by mouse or keyboard) is being supported. Therefore, system BIOS should first be ensured that it supports/enables this function.

4.0 Driver Installation for Windows XP
1. Microsoft EHCI drivers for Windows XP are not included in this package due to legal concerns. Please install Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 before running the setup program. SETUP.exe will redirect the user to Microsoft Windows Update for downloading the drivers, please make sure internet connection is set up.
A. Select “Install USB 2.0 Host driver”
B. Click “Yes” and the setup program will enable the user to connect to the Windows Update web site.
2. SETUP.exe launches Microsoft Internet Explorer and opens http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. Click on the “Scan for updates” to get the latest updates.
3. Microsoft Windows Update lists all available updates on the website. It is recommended to download the Windows XP Service Pack 1 since Microsoft EHCI drivers will be included.
5.0 Driver Installation for Windows 2000
1. Install Service Pack 3 or above before running the setup program.
2. Please make sure VIA USB 2.0 PCI adapter card has been correctly installed onto system. Open the Device Manager and check if there is a “Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller” under “Other devices”.
1. Insert the supplied “Windows 98/ME/Win2K/WinXP USB 2.0 Driver Installation CD” and execute the setup program by double click on the “SETUP.exe” file.
2. The screen shows the VIA Software License Agreement. Please read it FIRST and press “Yes” if wish to further proceed the driver installation.
