This is a Release Version of SF256-PCF PCI Audio Device and its driver
software.
[1] Installation Procedure
======================

[1.1] Install From CD ROM
--------------------
For Typical Driver Directory in Driver CD ROM: D:\Win95,
1) Turn off Machine
2) Insert SF256-PCF Card
3) Turn on Machine and reboot system
4) Win95 will report "PCI MultiMedia Audio Device" found and ask for Driver
5) browse the driver directory from CD: it should be D:\WIN95.
6) Win95 will start to install driver. just follow the steps with Win95.
[1.2] Uninstall the SF256-PCF Driver
--------------------------
1) Click the ForteMedia Icon in Control Panel
2) The Uninstall Dialog Box will show up
3) Click "Uninstall" button to uninstall
[1.3] Update with new Driver
-----------------------
1) run "Uninstaller" through "ForteMedia" Icon in Control Panel
2) restart the system
3) Install the new driver with Floppy or CD as mentioned above
[1.4] Install or Update Driver by using "SETUP"
-----------------------------------------
1) The users of SF256-PCF sound card can also update driver or
Install Driver without sound card by using the SETUP utility.
2) Just run "SETUP" from floppy or from CD:\directory and follow the
SETUP procedures to finish the installation.
3) Reboot for the changes to take effect.
4) SETUP utility can also be used to update driver or to clean up previous
unsuccessful installation.
[2] What is new in this version

1. Bug Fixes.
2. Auto Detect Codec 3D capability and its control method
3. Fix Push Button Support issue which may cause Mute/unMute on certain
board designs which don't implement push button functions.

Check list if Sound Card not found or IRQ not assigned
======================================================
1) Change Slot: Insert the PCI Audio Card into another PCI Slot. Reboot.
2) If problem persists, please Adjust BIOS Settings.
3) Adjust BIOS Settings:
a. Getting into BIOS (usually, hit "F1", "Del" or "F10" after Reboot)
b. Get into the Section with title "PCI/PnP"
c. Make sure it reserves enough IRQ for PCI devices
d. If there is "Reset Configuration" option, change it to "Yes/Enable".
e. If there is "PnP OS" option, change it to "NO".
f. Reboot.

This is a Release Version of SF256-PCF PCI Audio Device and its driver software.
12 languages are supported in this drver: English, traditional Chinese,
simplified Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch,
Portuguese, Korean, and Russian.

[1.1] Install Using Setup Program
---------------------------
For Typical Driver Directory in CD, D:\NT4 (Assuming D: is the CD-ROM drive),
1) Turn off Machine
2) Insert the SF256-PCF Card
3) Turn on Machine and reboot computer
4) Run Windows Explorer
5) Double click the directory containing the device driver (D:\NT4)
in this example.
6) Run Setup.exe by double click the icon beside Setup.exe.
7) Reboot the computer after installation.

[1.2] Install Using Control Panel
---------------------------
For typical device driver directory in CD, D:\NT4 (Assuming D: is your CD-ROM drive),
1) Turn off Machine
2) Insert the SF256-PCF Card
3) Turn on Machine and reboot system
4) Open Control Panel following Start\Settings\Control Panel.
5) Run Multimedia applet by double click the Multimedia icon.
6) Install Wave, Mixer, Fm-Syn driver:
a. Select the "Devices" tab
b. Click "Add" Button which locates at the bottom of the tab
c. An "Add" dialogue box is displayed, select the "Unlisted or Updated driver"
item, then click the "Ok" button.
d. An "Install Driver" dialogue box is displayed, enter D:\Winnt40 in the edit
box, then click the "Ok" button.
e. An "Add unlisted or update driver" dialog box is displayed, select
"SF256-PCF Wave, Mixer, and FM-Syn" item, then click the "Ok" button to
install audio driver. After the driver is installed, system will prompt
to restart the computer. Click "Restart now" button.
f. After the driver is installed, an "System setting change" dialog box will
pop up with two choose buttons of "Don't Restart Now" and "Restart Now",
to activate the change of the new installed driver, click the "Restart Now"
button to restart the computer.

[1.3] Install Joystick
Windows NT has provided joystick driver, the path of the driver is
\drvlib\multimed\joystick\x86 in the Windows NT CD. To install:
1) Open Control Panel following Start\Settings\Control Panel.
2) Run Multimedia applet by double click the Multimedia icon.
3) In Multimedia applet:
a. Select the "Devices" tab
b. Click "Add" Button which locates at the bottom of the tab
c. An "Add" dialogue box is displayed, select the "Unlisted or Updated driver"
item, then click the "Ok" button.
d. An "Install Driver" dialogue box is displayed, enter d:\drvlib\multimed\joystick\x86
in the edit box (assume drive D: is where your Windows NT CD locates), then click
the "Ok" button.

[1.4] Uninstall the SF256-PCF Driver
------------------------------
1) Open Control Panel following Start\Settings\Control Panel.
2) Run Multimedia applet by double click the Multimedia icon.
3) In Multimedia applet:
a. Select the "Devices" tab
b. Double click the "MIDI Devices and Instruments" under "Multimedia Drivers"
c. Select "Audio for SF256-PCF Wave, Mixer, and FM-Syn" entry
d. Click "Remove" button.
