*** This Package is for Machines with DOS as its only Operating System
1) Turn off Machine
2) Insert 4/6 CH. Sound Card
3) Turn on Machine and reboot system
4) At DOS Prompt, type A:\INSTALL if from floppy. or type D:\DOS100\INSTALL
if it si from CD and CD Drive is Drive D:.
5) Just follow the procedure of the INSTALL program to finish the Installation
6) Since DOS is not a Plug-n-Play OS, Please select the IO/IRQ/DMA which
is available and safe for the DOS games.

1) This DOS-Only tool also can be used in Win98 Native DOS environment.
2) Add the support for Win98 Native DOS.
3) Push button support is added in this version.
4) Initial volume setting can be configured by editting the volume.cfg file
5) Supporting surround sound in DOS mode.

[4] Check list if Sound Card not found or IRQ not assigned to 4/6 CH. Sound

1) Change Slot: Insert our PCI Audio Card into another PCI Slot. Reboot.
2) if problem presists, please Adjust BIOS Settings.
3) Adjust BIOS Settings:
a. getting into BOIS (usually, hit "F1", "Del" or "F10" after Reboot)
b. get into the Section with title "PCI/PnP"
c. make sure it reserves enough IRQ for PCI devices
d. if there is "Reset Configuration" option, change it to "Yes/Enable".
e. if there is "PnP OS" option, change it to "NO".
f. reboot.
4) if problem is still there, report the problem to us.
[5] Check list if SB Game is not working
====================================
1) DOS Games runs the best with PCI IRQ 5/7/9 assigned to 4/6 CH. Sound.
2) Even if PCI IRQ is not assigned to 5/7/9, We use IRQ routing technique
to make sure DOS Games still work.
3) But for the best result of DOS game play and to reduce potential problem(s)
of the additional layer of routing. Please change BIOS Setting to reserve
PCI IRQ 5/7/9 for PCI Devices.
4) if problem is still there, report the problem to us.

1. Quick Start
--------------
1) This version of SmartUSB56 drivers is only compatible with
Microsoft Windows ME.
THESE DRIVERS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS 98 OR WINDOWS 2000!
2) If any type of Smart Link modem is already installed in your
system and you want to update its' device driver, first
uninstall existing drivers (See Uninstall Procedure), and only
then proceed to install the new drivers.
To install your modem drivers for the first time:
-------------------------------------------------
a) Plug in the modem into a USB port.
b) Windows will instantly detect the modem and will start software
installation.
c) When requested, point to the drivers installtion directory on
the floppy disk or CD-ROM.
d) Modem drivers will be installed.

2. How to verify installation
-----------------------------
To verify that the modem is installed correctly, follow these steps:
a) Click "Start > Settings > Control Panel > Modem": check for the
presence of a "SmartUSB56 Modem".
b) In "Control Panel > Modems > Properties > Diagnostics" click on
"More Info" button and check that the modem responds.
To Check that the modem is working properly:
a) Open "Hyper Terminal".
b) Select the "SmartUSB56 Modem" or "Direct to port" option.
c) Type ATI1, ATI2 or ATI3 and make sure you receive the modem IDs.
Dial any accessible phone number, and see that that phone rings.
Dial to another modem (ATDTxxx or via the dial button of the
TAPI interface) and see that a modem session is established.
If you have successfully connected, then the modem has been
successfully installed.

3. Uninstall Procedure

a) Click "Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs".
b) Select "SmartUSB56 Modem".
c) Click the "Add/Remove" button.

[1.1] Install Using Setup Program
---------------------------
For Typical Driver Directory in CD, D:\Winnt40 (Assuming D: is the CD-ROM drive),
1) Turn off Machine
2) Insert FM801 Card
3) Turn on Machine and reboot computer
4) If you have installed any earlier version of FM801 driver, remove it before your
installation (Following directions in [1.4]).
5) Run Windows Explorer
6) Double click the directory containing the device driver (D:\Winnt40)
in this example.
7) Run Setup.exe by double click the icon beside Setup.exe.
8) Reboot the computer after installation.
[1.2] Install Using Control Panel
---------------------------
For typical device driver directory in CD, D:\Winnt40 (Assuming D: is your CD-ROM drive),
1) Turn off Machine
2) Insert FM801 Card
3) Turn on Machine and reboot system
4) Open Control Panel following Start\Settings\Control Panel.
5) Run Multimedia applet by double click the Multimedia icon.
6) Install Wave, Mixer, Fm-Syn driver:
a. Select the "Devices" tab
b. Click "Add" Button which locates at the bottom of the tab
c. An "Add" dialogue box is displayed, select the "Unlisted or Updated driver" item,
then click the "Ok" button.
d. An "Install Driver" dialogue box is displayed, enter D:\Winnt40 in the edit box,
then click the "Ok" button. Or, search the directory in which driver locates using "Browse", then
click the "Ok" button
e. An "Add unlisted or update driver" dialog box is displayed, select "FM801 Wave, Mixer, and FM-Syn" item,
then click the "Ok" button to install audio driver. After the driver is installed, system will prompt
to restart the computer. Click "Restart now" button.
f. After the driver is installed, an "System setting change" dialog box will pop up with two choose buttons
of "Don't Restart Now" and "Restart Now", to activate the change of the new installed driver, click the
"Restart Now" button to restart the computer.
[1.3] Install Joystick
Windows NT has provided joystick driver, path of the driver is \drvlib\multimed\joystick\x86 in the Windows NT
CD, following steps below to install it:
1) Open Control Panel following Start\Settings\Control Panel.
2) Run Multimedia applet by double click the Multimedia icon.
3) In Multimedia applet:
a. Select the "Devices" tab
b. Click "Add" Button which locates at the bottom of the tab
c. An "Add" dialogue box is displayed, select the "Unlisted or Updated driver" item,
then click the "Ok" button.
d. An "Install Driver" dialogue box is displayed, enter d:\drvlib\multimed\joystick\x86 in the edit
box (assume drive D: is where your Windows NT CD locates), then click the "Ok" button. Or, search
above directory in which driver locates using "Browse", then click the "Ok" button.
[1.4] Uninstall the FM801 Driver
--------------------------
1) Open Control Panel following Start\Settings\Control Panel.
2) Run Multimedia applet by double click the Multimedia icon.
3) In Multimedia applet:
a. Select the "Devices" tab
b. Double click the "MIDI Devices and Instruments" under "Multimedia Drivers"
c. Select "Audio for FM801 Wave, Mixer, and MIDI" entry
d. Click "Remove" button
e. After the driver is removed, an "System setting change" dialog box will pop up with two buttons
of choices "Don't Restart Now" and "Restart Now". To activate the change of the driver remove,
click the "Restart Now" button to restart the computer.
[1.5] Upgrade with new Driver
-----------------------
To upgrade driver, the first step is uninstall the existing driver (following
directions in [1.4]), then install the updated driver (following directions
in [1.1], or [1.2]).
