Windows 9x platforms
- Prepared for use with Windows 2000. Tested with latest Win2k
Beta versions.
- Supports up to three Audiowerk8 cards on Windows 9x systems.
II. PURPOSE
-----------

The included drivers are ESSENTIAL for the operation of the Audiowerk
hardware. WITHOUT INSTALLING THESE DRIVERS, AUDIOWERK WILL NOT WORK.

After installing these drivers, Windows will "know" the Audiowerk
hardware, and it should be displayed properly in the Device Manager.

Hint: If you already installed Audiowerk on your computer using the CD
that comes with the card, these drivers have already been installed;
but you might not have the latest version. Please refer to the UPDATE
section of this README.

These drivers are the "lowest-level" device drivers which are
necessary to add additional "higher-level" drivers, like the
Multimedia (MME) or ASIO drivers. Please note, that these "higher-level"
drivers are not required to run applications that directly support
the Audiowerk hardware, like Emagic Logic Audio or some Native
Instruments software. These applications only need the included
Kernel Mode drivers to be installed. However, if you would like to
use other software or you would like to be Audiowerk your Windows
default soundcard, playing system event sounds, you need to install
additional drivers that are not included in this package. For

The kernel mode drivers have been successfully tested on
Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, and Windows 2000 (Beta).
If you would like to install drivers on Windows NT 4.0 you don't need
this package. Instead you should use the combined MME/ASIO/Kernel-Mode
Setup program that could be found on the EMAGIC homepage.
