DOS and Windows 3.1 Installation :
=======================
[SETUP.EXE for Windows 3.1]
The SETUP.EXE is a Windows 3.1 setup program that installs DOS and Windows
3.1 drivers and utilities.
The user can run SETUP.EXE by selecting File|Run... and typing "A:SETUP" on
the command line under Windows 3.1 Program Manager, or by typing "A:SETUP" at
DOS prompt if Windows directory is in the PATH. The SETUP.EXE copies all the
DOS drivers and utilities to the directory that user specifies during the
setup program. All the Windows 3.1 drivers and VxDs are copied to the
Windows system directory. When the user installs the boeder 3D Sound System
for the first time the APCONFIG.EXE is started to configure the board setting
after the Setup program is finished.
[DOSINST.EXE for DOS Only installation]
The DOSINST.EXE is a DOS installation program that copies all the DOS drivers
and utilities to the directory that user specifies. When the user installs
the boeder 3D Sound System for the first time the APCONFIG.EXE is started to
configure the board setting after the Setup program is finished. DOSINST.EXE
can be installed by typing A:DOSINST.EXE at the DOS prompt.
Troubleshooting:
================
This appendix provides some tips and information for some of the
problems you might encounter with your ALS4000 sound card either during
installation or normal use.
[Problems in DOS]
Problem: No sound in a DOS application
Cause: There could be conflicts in the SB16 settings.
Solution: Rerun the AVCONFIG.EXE and try another Port,
DMA, or IRQ.
[Problems in Windows 3.1]
Problem: There is no "Sound..." or "MIDI Sequencer..." item
under the menu "Device" in the Media Player.
Cause: Mixer driver is not loaded.
Solution: Open the SYSTEM.INI file with any file editor. You
should see the following:

Problem: Third party mixer application with Sound Blaster compatibility
will not run with boeder 3D Sound System.
Cause: boeder 3D Sound System is Microsoft Sound System compatible. boeder 3D
does not support previous Sound Blaster Mixer Interface.
Solution: Use ALSRACK.EXE application that is shipped with this disk.
Problem: CD audio will not play after the ALS drivers are installed.
Cause: The user did not install the [MCI]CD-AUDIO driver.
Solution: Manually add [MCI]CD-AUDIO driver via Control Panel.

First Time Driver/Application Installation:
Step 1. After installing the boeder 3D sound card into the PCI slot of your
computer, turn on the system power. Windows 95 will prompt you with
a "New Hardware Found" dialog box. To install the Windows 95 driver,
please select "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer"
option and click on [OK].
Step 2. Insert the "boeder 3D Windows95 Driver and Utilities" CD-ROM/disk into the
appropriate drive and select that drive from the prompted dialog box and
click on [OK]. Windows 95 will copy all the needed files and set up all
the logic devices on the board automatically.
Step 3. Install the application(ALSRACK Player) by running the SETUP.EXE file
(included in the " Windows95 Drivers and Utilities" CD-ROM/disk) from
the Windows 95 START MENU|RUN. In selecting a setup type, please choose
"Install Application Only..." and click on [Next]. By doing so, setup
will install the bundled application into you computer system.
Note: See below for full description of ALSRACK functions.
Driver/Application Removal & Installation:
Step 1. To remove an existing driver/application and install with the latest
driver/application, please run SETUP.EXE file(inlcuded in the " Windows95
Drivers and Utilities" CD-ROM/disk) from the Windows 95 START MENU|RUN.
Step 2. In selecting a setup type, please choose "Remove and Install Software.."
and click on [Next]. When asked with "Do you want to install the bundled
application?" Select "Yes, I do." to install ALSRACK Player or "No, I
don't." if not. Click on [Next] and the program will install both the driver
and application automatically.
Note: If you have not installed the bundled application(ALSRACK Player) in step
#2 and wish to install later, you can run SETUP.EXE again and select "Install
Application Only.."
The DOS driver will installed autometically if you install driver by
running SETUP.EXE, and it will work when you shutdown your computer
by choosing restart to MS-DOS mode.
Driver/Application Removal ONLY:
Step 1. If you want to remove an existing driver/application ONLY, you may do so by
running SETUP.EXE file (inlcuded in the " Windows95 Drivers and Utilities"
CD-ROM/disk) from the Windows 95 START MENU|RUN.
Step 2. In selecting a setup type, please choose "Remove Software.." and click on
[Next]. The program will remove all existing and associated driver files
automatically.

Windows NT installation procedure:
1. Insert the "boeder 3D Windows NT Drivers and Utilities" diskette
into drive A:, and within CONTROL PANEL/DRIVERS/ADD/UNLISTED OR UPDATED
DRIVER, choose "OK". While installing, "Driver Exists" warning message
will appear and will ask to keep the old "midimap.cfg" or re-install.
Please choose re-install, or else midi will not function properly.
For Winnt4.0 installation procedure:
1. Insert the "boeder 3D Windows NT Drivers and Utilities" diskette
into drive A: or B:, and within CONTROL PANEL/MULTIMEDIA/DEVICE/ADD,
choose "OK". While installing, "Driver Exists" warning message will
appear and will ask to keep the old or re-install. Please choose
re-install, or else it will not funtion properly.
For NT 3.51 user playing MIDI at first time:
1 Create a new name like "boeder" at CONTROL PANEL/MIDI MAPPER/NEW/NAME
then press OK. Ignore the popup window & messaage and press OK & YES.
2.Select "boeder FM" from Name option, and then you can play midi.
