Observations
A. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Windows NT 4.0 PC with:
* Pentium 166MHz or faster CPU
* 32MB RAM
* Available PCI slot.
* Windows NT installed.
* 15MB hard disk space in the Windows NT partition.
* CD-ROM drive.
2. Good-quality speakers or headphones and connecting cables.
3. Joystick and MIDI keyboard (optional).
B. NEW FEATURES:
1. Added support for additional Codecs.
C. WINDOWS NT 4.0 DRIVER ISSUES:
1. SPDIF Support - Since there are many different configurations
of Aureal Vortex Au8830 cards available, the SPDIF out feature
has been disabled by default. You can easily enable this
feature by double clicking on the 8830spdif.reg file that is
included on the driver CD.
2. BIOS Settings - For proper operation, any BIOS support for
"Plug and Play OS" or "Windows 95 OS" must be disabled. The NT
drivers attempt to configure the audio card if the BIOS setting
is set correctly, but are not successful on all machine types.
3. Number Nine Display Adapters - The Number Nine Imagine128
drivers shipping with NT4.0 are poorly behaved in the system
and hog the PCI bus during heavy graphics usage, which can
cause noticable audio dropouts.
4. Riva 128 Display Adapters - The Riva 128 drivers shipping
with NT4.0 are poorly behaved in the system and hog the PCI bus
during heavy graphics usage, which can cause noticeable audio
dropouts. A new set of drivers for Riva128 display adapters
fixes the problem and is available from:
http://www.stb.com/drivers/velocity/vl128.html
5. 3COM network card drivers - Version 1.0 of the XL 3COM network
card driver found on the NT distribution CD can cause blue
screens during installations. Be sure to use 1.1 or above.
6. Matrox Display Adapters - The Matrox drivers shipping with NT
4.0 are poorly behaved in the system and hog the PCI bus during
heavy graphics usage, which can cause noticeable audio
dropouts.
If using Matrox Millennium II driver v3.20, (4.0.55), try
upgrading to the latest Matrox drivers. Upgrading to the latest
driver will not guarantee any improvement. In this case, you
may want to contact Matrox directly to address this problem.
