The 2001/2002 MFD Printer Model has a parallel and serial port,
either of which can be used to connect to your PC for printing
Using the parallel port is recommended as speed is faster and
setup is easier.
The Lanier 2001/2002 MFD can be interfaced as a 300 x 300 d.p.i. printer
and 600 x 600 d.p.i printer for Microsoft Windows via the accompanying
print driver on this diskette.
To install the Lanier 2001/2002 MFD, you must first connect it to
your PC. You then install the print driver into your Microsoft
Windows System.
Hardware Installation:
1. Shut down your computer.
2. Turn off the Lanier 2001/2002 MFD.
3. For Parallel connection: Obtain a good quality Parallel
Printer cable. Connect it between the "Centronics" port
on the side of the 2001/2002 MFD and the parallel printer port
on your PC.
For Serial connection: A special serial cable is included
with the machine. Connect the round plug-end to the round
5 pin connector on the rear of the 2001/2002 MFD . Connect the other
end (9 pin "D"" to an available serial (COM) port on your
PC. If your PC serial port is a 25 pint type, you will have
to obtain a 9 to 25 adapter.
4. Turn on your 2001/2002 MFD .
5. Turn on your PC and start Windows.

1 Open the "Control Panel" from the Main Window of the
Program Manager, then open the "Printers" Application from
the Control Panel Window.
2 On the Control Panel Printers dialog that appears. Click the
"Add >>" button.
3 A list of Printers will appear. Select the "Install Unlisted
or Updated Printer" item from the list. Click the "Install"
button.
4 A dialog box appears, instructing you to insert the
manufacturer's installation disk. Insert the program disk.
Click the "Browse button", select the folder "\win31" on the
program disk. Click the "OK" button.
5 Click the "OK" button. The "Add Unlisted or Updated Printer"
dialog then lists a 2001/2002 MFD printer.
6 Hilight the 2001/2002 MFD printer and click "OK". Windows will
copy all the necessary files to your hard drive and load the
new printer driver.
7 During the file copy process, An "Install Driver" dialog may
appear to instruct you to insert the original Windows 3.1
installation disk. The files requested may already reside in
your Windows system. Click the "Browse" button on the
"Install Driver" dialog, then direct Windows to search for
the files in the "System" directory of your Windows
directory first. If the files requested are not found in the
Windows System directory, please insert the Windows 3.1
installation disk and instruct the "Install Driver" dialog
to search for the files on the disk. If the system file is
already in the system, choose "Browse" and specify the
system directory. (Ex: c:\windows\system )

Lanier MFD 2002 TWAIN_32 Driver is for Windows95, 98, NT compatible.
It supports B/W and photo(diffusion) mode.
Resolutions:
Standard : 203 x 98 dots per inch.
Fine : 203 x 196 dots per inch.
Super fine: 203 x 392 dots per inch.
Paper Sizes:
There are four paper sizes supported: A4, Letter and Legal.
Baud Rate:
38400 bps.
19200 bps.
Port: COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, are all supported.

Trouble Shooting
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. After correctly installed Lanier MFD 2002 TWAIN_32 Driver, try using anyone
application to activate the TWAIN_32 Driver by selecting "Select Source."
When a dialog box appears choose "Lanier MFD 2002" and close this dialog
box.
*If "Lanier MFD 2002" does not exist, please make sure the following items
exist in your Windows\TWAIN_32\MFD directory, LANI2002.DS, TWMFD.HLP files.
If not, please quit all applications and reinstall Lanier MFD 2002 TWAIN_32
Driver.
2. Click Acquire function in the application will launch Lanier MFD 2002
TWAIN_32 Driver Control Panel. Configure your COM-port by clicking
Configuration pad and choosing the correct port in the shown configuration
panel.
3. After finishing all the selections scan directly.
*If the machine has no reaction, please make sure the COM-port is connected
correctly, or if an error message box appears, make sure the document is
right in the tray.

Lanier MFD 2002 TWAIN_32 Driver is for Windows95, 98, NT compatible.
It supports B/W and photo(diffusion) mode.
Resolutions:
Standard : 203 x 98 dots per inch.
Fine : 203 x 196 dots per inch.
Super fine: 203 x 392 dots per inch.
Paper Sizes:
There are four paper sizes supported: A4, Letter and Legal.
Baud Rate:
38400 bps.
19200 bps.
Port: COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, are all supported.

Trouble Shooting
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. After correctly installed Lanier MFD 2002 TWAIN_32 Driver, try using anyone
application to activate the TWAIN_32 Driver by selecting "Select Source."
When a dialog box appears choose "Lanier MFD 2002" and close this dialog
box.
*If "Lanier MFD 2002" does not exist, please make sure the following items
exist in your Windows\TWAIN_32\MFD directory, LANI2002.DS, TWMFD.HLP files.
If not, please quit all applications and reinstall Lanier MFD 2002 TWAIN_32
Driver.
2. Click Acquire function in the application will launch Lanier MFD 2002
TWAIN_32 Driver Control Panel. Configure your COM-port by clicking
Configuration pad and choosing the correct port in the shown configuration
panel.
3. After finishing all the selections scan directly.
*If the machine has no reaction, please make sure the COM-port is connected
correctly, or if an error message box appears, make sure the document is
right in the tray.
