Installation Instructions
===========================================================================
1. Start Windows 95.

2. Insert the Dataproducts driver disk into drive a: or b:.

3. Open the "My Computer" group.

4. Open the "Printers" folder and select "Add Printers".
The "Add Printers Wizard" appears.

5. Proceed through the series of windows presented by the "Add Printers
Wizard" - selecting the "Have Disk" button when prompted for the
type of printer to install.

6. Enter the letter of the drive containing the driver disk (from step 2).

7. Select the printer model to install.

8. Continue through the "Add Printers Wizard" until the installation is
complete.

NOTE: If you installed Windows 95 over Windows 3.x and you had
the same Dataproducts printer model installed in 3.x as you
are trying to install in 95, a message may appear after step 7
above informing you that a driver is already installed for this
printer. At this point you can choose to keep the existing driver
or to replace it. Select replace and continue through the
installation process. Once installation is complete, delete
the "Dataproducts Typhoon (copy 2)" icon in the "Printers" group.

Technical Notes / Hints
===========================================================================

1. The Typhoon 8/16/20 printers are not "Plug and Play" devices and require
the installation method described above in order to be recognized by
Windows 95.

2. The Restore Defaults button under the PostScript 'tab' restores
the PostScript Header setting to the last saved selection.

3. The Restore Defaults button under the Details / Spool Settings 'tab'
does not effect the Bi-Directional setting.

4. The Separator Page in the General 'tab' observes the settings in the
driver not the application. This may cause some confusion if the user
is not aware of this fact. The implications of using a Separator Page
might best be described by an example.

a. The printer is in a default configuration (Restore Factory Defaults),
and has 11x17 paper in tray 1.
b. The driver specifies a Separator Page but is otherwise in a default
configuration.

* FIRST TIME INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS *

You need to follow the following procedure to install any of the drivers
included with this disk:

1. After logging in, execute "PRINT MANAGER" from the "MAIN" program group.

2. Select "Printer" and choose "Create Printer..." from the menu bar.

3. Type in a unique name in the "Printer Name" box and select "Other" for
"Driver". (This option is at the end of the list of printer names.)

4. At the "Install Drive" prompt window, type in the letter of the floppy
disk drive containing the driver disk (A:\ or B:\) and click the mouse
on "OK".

5. At this point a list of printer drivers included on this disk appears in
the "Select Drive" window. Using the mouse, select the printer model by
highlighting the printer name, and click on "OK".
Wait while the appropriate files are copied onto you system.
Change your printer port if necessary and click "OK".

6. By now you should see a window titled "PostScript Printer Setup".
In this window you can configure various features including
Font substitution, Halftone and assign different paper sizes to
different paper trays installed in the printer.

* NOT THE FIRST TIME INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS *

If you already have installed the driver and need to reinstall it again,
the following is the procedure you need to follow, in order to un-install
the driver:

1. Select the "FILE" command in the PROGRAM MANAGER. Select the "RUN"
option, and type "C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\REGEDIT32.EXE". (If for some reason
the directory and drive letter of where NT files are stored at is
different, replace the C:\WINNT with the correct drive letter and
directory)

2. Select the window titled "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE on Local Machine".
Double click on "SYSTEM"
Double click on "ControlSet001"
Double click on "Control"
Double click on "Print"
Double click on "Environments"
Double click on "Windows NT x86"
Double click on "Drivers"

At this level of the tree, you should see a branch for each printer ever
installed in your system, select the printer by clicking the mouse on
the printer name, and press delete.
