DESCRIPTION
-----------
WTUNINST.EXE, version 1.08, is designed to remove Wintab
drivers from Windows 95 and Windows 3.1 systems. The driver to be
removed can be either selected through a dialog box or on the command
line (with the device name(s) optional on the command line). More
than one driver can be uninstalled at a time.

INSTRUCTIONS
---------------------------------------------------------

WARNING! WTUNINST.EXE will completely and irrevocably remove Wintab
functionality from your system. If your Wintab device is your
primary pointing device, you will be left without any way of
controlling Windows.

1.START THE PROGRAM:

To start the uninstaller from Windows, double click on the
uninstaller icon.

To start the uninstaller from a command window in Windows 95,
click the Start button and then click Run. Under Windows 3.1, select
File and then Run from the Program Manager menu. In the dialog box,
type the following string: 'wtuninst'. Or use 'wtuninst
device_name', if you know the device name of the Wintab device you
wish to uninstall.

2.INFORMATION DIALOG BOX
After starting the program (see above), a dialog box will display
the uninstaller version number. Click OK or press enter.

3.SELECT THE DRIVER TO UNINSTALL:
The next dialog box will display a list of all the Wintab drivers
that the uninstaller could find. Using the keyboard
or mouse, highlight the name(s) of the drivers you wish to uninstall.
Press the "Uninstall" button to continue, or press "Clear" to
exit the program.

NOTE: If the uninstaller was started from the command line with a
device name option, then the second dialog box will not appear.

NOTE: At least one driver must be selected in order to
continue.

4.CONFIRMATION BOX
A confirmation dialog box will show the driver to be
deleted. Select "OK" if this is the driver(s) you wish to
delete from your system. Select "Cancel" to exit the uninstaller.

5.DELETION INFORMATION
A final dialog box will show you the name of the driver(s) that
have been deleted by the uninstaller. The uninstalled driver will
not be removed from memory until the system is restarted. Press "OK"
to clear the message from the screen.

ISSUES
-------------------------------------------
BROKEN INSTALLATIONS -- IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE REBOOTING AFTER UNINSTALL
The uninstaller may not properly uninstall a broken
installation. It may not remove all the registry keys, files, and
.INI file entries. If the uninstall failed due to a broken
installation, a manual uninstall must be done.
If the uninstall fails, one remedy is to reboot your system to a
safe-mode command prompt (or DOS) and restoring the backup that the
uninstaller made. To do this, copy SYSTEM.LCS to SYSTEM.INI in your
Windows directory and reboot.

Installing J-Series Wintab NT drivers with SETUP version 1.00 or greater
---------- -------- ------ -- ------- ---- ----- ------- ---- -- -------

* Insert this floppy in drive A: and run A:SETUP (substitute B:
or some other drive letter as appropriate).

* Follow the prompts. Remove the floppy when instructed and reboot.
Uninstalling J-Series Wintab NT drivers (installed by SETUP 1.00 or greater)

* In Windows NT 3.51, go to the 'J-Series Wintab' program group and double-
click on the Uninstall icon. Follow the prompts. Be sure to
reboot after uninstalling.

* In Windows NT 4.0, go to the control panel. Select 'Add/Remove Programs',
and from that list, select 'J-Series Wintab'. Click 'Add/Remove' and
follow the prompts. Be sure to reboot after uninstalling.

* NOTE * NOTE * NOTE * NOTE * NOTE * NOTE * NOTE * NOTE * NOTE *
If the automatic uninstallation process fails for any reason,
proceed to the manual process described below.

Manually disabling or removing J-Series Wintab NT drivers
-------- --------- -- -------- -------- ------ -- -------

* Temporarily Disabling Wintab Drivers for Windows NT

1. Disable Devices (Kernel-mode device drivers).

Run the Windows NT Control Panel. Open the Devices Icon. Select the
wtclass device from the list. Select the Startup... button. Set the
startup type to Disabled.

Follow the steps above to disable the wtmgl driver as well.

2. Disable the Wintab32 Service.

Run the Windows NT Control Panel. Open the Services Icon. Select the
wintab32 service from the list. Select the Startup... button. Set the
startup type to Disabled.

3. Restart Windows NT.

* Permanently Removing Wintab Drivers for Windows NT

1. Remove Registry Keys.

Run the Windows NT Registry Editor by selecting the File, Run...
command in Program Manager. Select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE window.
Open the System\CurrentControlSet\Services key. Under that key,
delete the following keys and all of the subkeys: wintab32, wtclass,
wtmgl. Open the System\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\System key.
Under that key, delete the following keys and all of the subkeys: wintab32,
wtclass, wtmgl.

2. Restart Windows NT.

3. Delete Files.

Open a Command Prompt window. Type the following commands:

cd %systemroot%
del wtcpl32.exe wintab.ini
cd system32
del wintab32.dll wintab32.exe wintab.dll wtmgl.dll
cd drivers
del wtclass.sys wtmgl.sys
