The D-Link DVG-2001S single-port VoIP station gateway is an ideal Internet telephone
solution for home and office. It combines the industry's latest Voice over the IP network
technology with advanced communication features, and is compatible with any phone service.
This device converts voice traffic into data packets for transmission over the Internet. It is
inexpensive and easy to use, providing the convenience and great savings for homes and
offices needing to place frequent long-distance and international calls.
Cost Saving and Investment Protection. The DVG-2001S provides homes and businesses
with an easy and inexpensive upgrade to Internet telephony without any need to change
existing telephone and fax equipment. Its protects and extends your past investments in
telephones, conference speakers phones and fax machines, as well as to control your
migration to IP with a very affordable and incremental investment.
Ideal for Home/SOHO. Compact and low-cost, the DVG-2001S provides an Ethernet port that
plugs to a DSL or cable modem, and a FXS port that plugs to any regular telephone set or fax
machine. For homes and offices with frequent needs for long-distance and international phone
calls, this device provides great cost savings and convenience. The DVG-2001S can be
independently configured through software controlled by the Service Providers or the end
users.
Convenient Call Features. The DVG-2001S supports many useful functions, allowing the
service providers to offer these functions to their subscribers. Provided that your telephone set
supports these functions, you can take advantage of these convenient features. The DVG-
2001S call function support includes attended call transfer, call hold, call waiting, caller ID
display, and 3-way conference.
Guaranteed Voice Quality. The DVG-2001S delivers clear sounds, voice and reliable fax
calling through implementation of internationally recognized standards for voice and data
networking. It incorporates Quality of Service (QoS) functions to ensure that voice received
through the Internet is the same as or even surpasses that received on the ordinary phone.

Connecting the VoIP Terminal Adapter to
your Computer
A. First, connect the power adapter to the power input at the back
panel of the DVG-2001S and then plug the other end of the
power adapter to a wall outlet or power strip. On the front of the
device, the Power LED will turn ON to indicate proper operation.
B. Insert one end of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet (LAN) port
on the back panel of the DVG-2001S and the other end of the
cable to an Ethernet Adapter or available Ethernet port on your
computer.
C. Insert a telephone cable into the Phone port, then connect the
cable to your telephone line.
D. Check the LED display on the front of the Router to confirm that
the connections have been made.

Connecting Additional Computers
to the DVG-2001S VoIP Terminal
Adapter
Using additional Ethernet (CAT5 UTP) cables, connect your Ethernetequipped
computers to the LAN port on the back panel of the
DVG-2001S.
When you have completed the steps in this Quick Installation Guide,
your connected network should look similar to this:
Initial Web Configuration
Configuring the WAN (Internet)
Connection
Enter a new password for the DVG-2001S in the Password
field.
Confirm the new password by entering it again into the
Verify Password field.
The window above allows you to select between the three
most common ways to connect to your ISP’s WAN (Internet).
Select Dynamic IP Address if your ISP automatically
assigns you an IP address. This is the most common way of
connecting the DVG-2001S to another modem, such as a
Cable modem.
Select Static IP Address if your ISP provided you with IP
address information that will not change.
Select PPPoE if your ISP uses the Point-to-Point over
Ethernet (PPPoE) protocol to make the connection. This is
the most common connection type for DSL users.
Dynamic IP Address
Select Dynamic IP Address if your ISP automatically
assigns you an IP address. This is the most common way of
connecting the DVG-2001S to another modem, such as a
Cable modem.
Static IP Address
Select Static IP Address if your ISP provided you with IP
address information that will not change.
You will need your ISP to provide you with the IP address
information about your Internet account, if your ISP statically
assigns an IP address to you.
Enter the provided IP address in the WAN IP Address field.
Enter the corresponding subnet mask in the WAN Subnet
Mask field.
Enter the IP address of your ISP’s gateway in the WAN
Gateway Address field.
Enter the IP address of a Domain Name Server (DNS) in the
Primary DNS Address field.
