Disclaimer of Warrenty
----------------------
Users of this software must accept this disclaimer of warranty: "This
software is supplied AS IS. Mark Becker disclaims all warranties, expressed
or implied, including, without limitation, the warranties of merchantability
and of fitness for any purpose. Mark Becker assumes no liability for
damages, direct or consequential, which may result from the use of this
software."
Purpose
-------
Write a disk image file to a floppy disk.
Equipment/Software Requirements
-------------------------------
* PC/XT/AT or 100% compatible with at least 256K of RAM and a floppy disk
drive.
* MS-DOS version 3.21 or greater.
* A formatted diskette.
This program uses well-documented generic low-level DOS and BIOS functions.
It should run on nearly every PC in existance. PS/2's should be able to run
RaWrite but this has not been tested.
CAVEAT
------
This program will write ANY disk file to a floppy, overwriting any previous
information that may have been present. If you wish to re-use a diskette
that has been written to by RaWrite then that diskette will probably need to
be reformatted; all MS-DOS specific information will have been erased.
Usage
-----
C> RAWRITE
And follow the prompts. All arguments are case-insensitive.
If the source and destination drives are the same, RaWrite will ask the user
to swap diskettes as required. Rawrite allocates a large buffer in RAM to
reduce the number of disk swaps.
RaWrite may be aborted at any time by typing ^C or CTRL-Break.

Rocket Port 550 series LINUX device driver
==========================================
Supports RP550 PCi range, RP550 uPCi range (including RP550 uPCi 16 SMPTE)
JAN 2001 - V1.00 - Orignal release
1. Developed for kernel release 2.2.12-16
Source code can found in the source folder.
AUG 2001 - V1.01 - Up-reved for Linux 2.4 Kernel.
1. Changed for Linux kernel release 2.4.(3)
2) Small modification to install file
3) Made changes to to rckt550.c source file. Most changes are only
triggered if EGO_FIX_1 is non-zero.
EGO_FIX_1P etc. are for paranoid or debugging
use so the code for them is not compiled but
can be compiled in should a new problem need
investigation.
Aug 2002 - V1.02 - Up reved for Linux 2.4.18 kernel
1) Add preprocessor directives to handle 2.4.x v 2.2.x kernel compilation
by defining EGO_FIX_1 as 1 for 2.4.x and 0 for 2.2.x
2) Conditionally compile current->counter for kernel versions less than 2.4.x
The counter member variable is no longer in task_struct. I don't know exactly
at which kernel revision it was dropped (we know that the V1.01 rckt550.c
built OK with 2.4.9 ) and so the conditional test might
have to be changed.
In the serial.c driver current->counter appears to have been deleted, no longer used.
In order to build the driver under 2.4.18-3
the following link is probably required in /usr/src
ln -s /usr/src/linux-2.4.18-3 linux
In general a link name linux needs to be made to the kernel source directory
Jan 2003 - V1.03 - maintenance update & up-rev for kernel 2.4.18-14
Documentation (readme) change
Add conditional to use slab.h in place of malloc.h (malloc deprecated in RH7.3 and removed from RH8.0)
Update Makefile to use new gcc flags. Old gcc flags remain in the Makefile but are commented out.
The distribution rckt550.o file included in this distribution was built under RH8.0 kernel 2.4.18-14
Note:The source has also been compiled successfully under the earlier RH7.3 kernel 2.4.18-3 and the
resultant driver module successfully installed
August 2003 - V2.00 - Add support for RocketPort Universal cards
Support for new PCI IDs 8020-8027.
Support for Software Control over RS232/422/485 Line modes on supported boards.
The distribution rckt550.o file included in this distribution was built under RH8.0 kernel 2.4.18-14
October 2003 - V2.01 - Add support for RocketPort Universal RS232-only cards
Support for new PCI IDs 8028-802B.
Removal of irrelevant non-RocketPort hardware CONFIG options.

V1.10 and above of the DOS sample software supports the original
RocketPort/BroadPort 550 range, the RocketPort/BroadPort 550 Universal range and
the new BroadPort 550 Universal RS422 SMPTE cards.
When this document refers to RocketPort/BroadPort 550 it is relevant to the
RocketPort/BroadPort 550, the RocketPort/BroadPort 550 Universal controller and
the BroadPort 550 cards. If the text is relevant to only one controller type then the
reference will be to the ‘RocketPort/BroadPort 550 Universal’ , ‘original
RocketPort/BroadPort 550’ or BroadPort 550.
The MS DOS sample source code for the RocketPort/BroadPort 550 is supplied as a
self extract file.
The sample source code is intended for use with standard MS DOS. It can also be
used in a DOS session under Windows 9x. It will work with a single
RocketPort/BroadPort 550 controller, however developers are free to modify the code
for operation with multiple RocketPort/BroadPort 550 cards.
This software’s primary purpose is to assist DOS developers in the porting of their
existing Hostess 450/550 register level driver software to the RocketPort/BroadPort
550.
The sample source, as supplied, builds a simple application called ‘TERM’EXE’.
NOTE: The DOS sample source code accesses the RocketPort/BroadPort 550
controller at the register I/O level. Executable code produced using these techniques
cannot be used under Windows NT, XP or 2000.
2. Extracting the driver files to the PC’s hard disk
Terminology
The term ‘directory’ will be used which is synonymous with a Windows ‘folder’
The following assumes that you are running MS DOS or a DOS session under Windows 9x. If
running under Windows, then you may, of course, use Windows Explorer to create a working folder and
copy/paste files.

Rocket Port 550 Sample MS-DOS I/O application
**************************
1.0 Introduction
================
This software comprises a sample MS DOS I/O application called TERM.EXE,
including 'C' source code for the RocketPort 550 PCi controller range.
Supported controllers
---------------------
One of the following
ORIGINAL ROCKETPORT 550 PCi
===========================
RocketPort 550 PCi 4 RJ45
RocketPort 550 PCi 4 Quadcable
RocketPort 550 PCi 8 RJ11
RocketPort 550 PCi 8 Octacable
RocketPort 550 PCi 8 (used with RocketPort I/F box)
RocketPort 550 PCi 16 (used with RocketPort I/F box)
ROCKETPORT 550 PCI UNIVERSAL (including Low Profile versions)
=============================================================
RocketPort 550 PCi 8 Universal Low Profile (used with RocketPort I/F box)
RocketPort 550 PCi 16 Universal Low Profile (used with RocketPort I/F box)
RocketPort 550 PCi 4 Universal RJ45
RocketPort 550 PCi 4 Universal QUAD ( Low Profile aka mini )
RocketPort 550 PCi 8 Universal OCTA
RocketPort 550 PCi 8 Universal RJ11
RocketPort 550 PCi 16 Universal SMPTE (16 x RS422)
The code consists of I/O modules that provide a driver level interface to
the hardware including interrupt handler and PCI Bios routines supporting
a simple application that operates in a similar manner to the 'TERM' program
that ships with the original ISA base Hostess card MS DOS driver.
The modules are built into an MS DOS .EXE program also called 'TERM'.
This sample code is designed for use under true MS-DOS. It has been
tested with MS DOS version 6.2
===============================================
Notes on use under MS Windows 9x
It has undergone some testing within an MS Windows 95 (retail version only)
DOS session and appears to operate satisfactorily.
A generic INF file has thus been provided to handle the PCI card bus enumeration.
In order to 'see' the controllers under Windows 95 OSR2 and Windows 98, the
generic INF file can be used with the 'Add new hardware' wizard to enumerate
the card.
However no guarantees are made regarding operation of the sample
I/O application under MS Windows 95 or 98 as the software is intended for use
under true MS DOS.
If true MS DOS is not available and problems are encountered with a Windows
95/98 DOS session, then it is suggested that the PC is shutdown to MS DOS
mode or shutdown and rebooted to console operation (ie press F8 just as the
starting Windows 9x message appears and select console boot).
This software performs direct register I/O and so cannot be used
under an MS windows NT console session.

August 2000 - V1.00
1. Orignal release
November 2001 - V1.01
1. Add support for RocketPort 550 8 port (interface box version)
April 2001 - V1.02
1. Add support for multiple mixed RocketPort 550 installations
April 2001 - V1.03
1. Change Setup.Exe to enable the starting COM port to be chosen instead of relying
on internal serialport count variables to set the starting COM port automatically.
January 2003 - V1.04
1. Change Setup.exe to allow user to select a Wait_on_Tx function. This is global to all ports.
The name, Wait_on_Tx, is really a misnomer.
It configures all RocketPort 550 ports to operate like the motherboard COM ports in terms of
WriteFile completion timings. It does this by reducing the FIFO size and therefore the
interrupt trigger levels.
2. Update to handle OX16C954 Rev B parts
April 2003 - V1.05
1. Update to support RocketPort 550 PCI Universal 4,8,& 16 port controllers.
These controllers require RocketPort or Comtrol Europe UI interface box.
2. Update R550Q.INF and R550RJ4.INF to comment out the PCIDeviceId1 entry (0x9511) in the AddReg section. Prevents the spurious R550 device id event viewer error message.
July 2003 - V1.06
1. The XON/XOFF handling for transmission works by stop/starting the flow of data into the TX fifo. This means that following the receipt of an XOFF, up to 128 bytes of characters could still be sent causing problems with remotes that do not have enough remaining buffer space to absorb the data.
Update XON/XOFF handling to disable transmitter on receipt of and XOFF (from the remote device) and enable on receipt off an XON.
This prevents the relatively large number of characters being sent, post XOFF, due to the large transmit Fifo.
September 2003 - V1.07
1. Add support for additional RocketPort 550 Universal cards (OCTA,RJ11,RJ45 and 4 port Mini).
2. Update driver to support 4 cards of different types (previously the driver supported four cards of the same type and required seperate driver instances to be installed to handle
different RP550 types).
3. Update setup program so that user no longer has to specify the RP550 type to install
driver now relies 100% on device id for controller identification.
4. Consolidate multiple .INF files into one single .INF file.
