Is a self-extracting ZIP file cards which contain 16650 or 16750 UART chips . (The models of these cards containing a 16550 UART do not need these drivers, but can use the standard operating system drivers instead.) The following are the instructions for installing our ISA-bus
16650/16750/16950 UART & 400 PRO/800 PRO cards under Windows 95, 98 ME and NT
4.0.
1. If you are installing a jumper settable card (not a plug & play card),
configure your serial card. Set the base address(es), IRQ(s), and
the clock frequency setting. (If you are going to use the card at
115K or below, leave the card at the 1X (1.8 MHz) clock freqency setting.
If you need to run the card at 230K for an ISDN modem for instance,
set the card to the 2X (3.6 MHz) clock frequency setting. If you need to
run the card at 460K, set the card to 4X (7.3 MHz) the clock frequency
setting.)
2. Run the drvconf.exe program from the "Run..." command from Windows, or
shell to a DOS prompt from Windows and run the program.
3. Click on "Add jumper configured card" if you are adding a jumper
configured card. If you are adding a plug & play card, it will show
up under "Modules".
4. If you are adding a jumper configured card, you will select either
VS COM 200 TURBO if you have a TC-200-S6 (16650 UART) series card, or
VS COM 200 PRO if you have a TC-200 PRO (16750 or 16950 UART) card. If you
are using a TC-212-SP-S6-2 card, select the VS COM 200 TURBO option. Then,
press "Continue"
5. Choose the proper address and IRQ settings. If you are installing a
single serial version of the TC-200 (a TC-200-S6-1), select "Disabled"
for the COM-B base address and IRQ. (Skip this step for plug & play cards)
6. Press "Continue"
7. Change the "overspeed" setting to the clock-frequency setting on the card.
(Or change it to what multiplier you want if you are installing a plug & play
card. For instance, 1 would be normal, 2 would make whatever speed you
select doubled, etc.)
8. Click "OK"
9. When asked if you really want to update the configuration, click "Yes".
10. When prompted, select "REBOOT NOW".
11. Once the system is rebooted, go to "Start, settings, control panel".
Then, double-click on the "System" icon. Next, click on the "Device
Manager" tab. Then, double-click on the "Ports (COM & LPT)" selection.
Next, double click on the newly installed port.
12. Click on the "Port settings" tab. Select the real bps rate. (For
example, if you are setting the card up to 230K mode, select 230,400 bps
for the selection here.) Also, select "Hardware" for the flow control.
13. Make sure that Dial-Up-Networking, and Modem Properties are set to
the correct speed. (Either the speed you want to open the port if you
are using the card in the standard 1X setting, or half the speed you
actually want if you are using the card in the 2X setting. So, for instance,
if you are using the card for 230K operation, you would have the card set
to 2X, and would enter in the speed as 115,200 bps for Dial-Up Networking
and the Modem Properties.
Also, if you run a program such as HyperTerminal that asks the bps rate,
and you are using the card for 230K operation, be sure to select the 115,200
bps selection.
