Overview

This document describes changes to the Synaptics TouchPad Driver
for Windows XP and Vista. Only external releases have been documented.
Other releases were for internal use, beta tests, or for specific customer
requests. These are not documented here.

Bug Fixes
-Fixed lextra spaces before dots and dashes in Finish help.

-Added settings for Show Video buttons and graphics for ClickPad 2.0 UI
-Added help text for clickpad 2.0
-Added one hot-key for button setting at OEM App.
-Fixed IDS_ENABLE stick hotkeys conflict issues.
-Added tap and double tap support for clickpad if one finger is rest in
the button zone, another finger does tap or double tap.
-Changed the default left and right buttons zone, and enabled tap and
double tap hack for clickpad.
-Set clickpad to true for 2 buttons clickpad.
-Make sure all HKLM are changed to HKR.
-We need to call IoSkipCurrentIrpStackLocation before calling
WdfDeviceWdmDispatchPreprocessedIrp if a new Irp is not created according
to specs., otherwise it causes a BSOD if verifier is enabled in 64-bit
Win7.
-Added more dependencies for Scroll item under pointer, Scroll selected
item, Enable reverse scrolling direction, and scrolling speed.
-Changed default settings.
-Added setting ControlBar1363 to demo in the trunk
-Excluded the ControlBar from showing up in our normal Mouse control panel
-1, Adjusted min amount of time the user will keep palm on the pad, before
triggering an action from 1000ms to 200ms. 2, Fixed PalmOnPad end action
was not fired because the stroke state was reset in secondary finger
packet. 3, Fixed PalmOnPad was not detected if there were 3 fingers
covering the TP.
-Updated for the SynSlidebar tester
-Converted old CPL tree to new CPL tree.
-Reorganized OEM inc files, and replaced all HKLM with HKR.
-Added document to describe adding new language support tasks

1. Please make sure CD ROM player work fine under DOS environment.
2. Run INSTALL.BAT and press any key to accept the agreement.
3. Select "Client Installation".
4. Select "NetWare DOS/WINDOWS Client (VLM)".
5. Specify your target directory, default path is C:\NWCLIENT.
6. Allow system to modified your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS.
7. Select YES to install support for MS Windows, if you accept.
8. Move the highlight bar to Select the driver for your network
board and press
9. Put the released diskette into floppy disk and go to bottom
Select "OTHER DRIVERS" under Network Board.

WHAT IS PROTECTOR SUITE 2009
Protector Suite 2009 is a desktop security and convenience product.
Its components provide an easy and convenient access to your computer, web pages, and sensitive files using a biometric device.
Installed components depend on the software version and licence used.
In case you are not using a full licensed version of Protector Suite 2009 all features may not be available or will be available only in a limited mode. When you access a feature that is not fully available in the limited version of Protector Suite 2009, you will be prompted to upgrade. Purchasing license for full version is possible directly from the Control Center.

INSTALLATION
Protector Suite 2009 installation is carried out by the Setup
wizard. It is recommended to read explaining texts in wizard
screens to avoid potential problems. The detailed description of
the installation procedure can be found in the user documentation.
Authentication hardware is installed together with the whole product.
If you use an external type of hardware, connect it after you install
the software part. You will be asked to do so after you reboot
the computer after installation and log on your computer. If any problems, drivers can be found in driver folder.
.NET and Windows biometric framework enabling for Server 2008 and Server 2008 R2
.NET framework
All server versions must be enabled using "Server Roles" (in Administrative tools > Server manager go to Roles > Add role, choose Application Server and Add feature, finish the wizard and run Install) or "Features" (in Administrative tools > Server manager go to > Features > Add Features, choose .Net Framework [version] Features and run Install).
Windows biometric framework
Open Administrative tools > Server manager and choose Features > Add Features. Choose Windows Biometric Framework, click Next and run Install.

SILENT INSTALL
Silent installation of Protector Suite 2009 is also possible.
On Windows Vista and Windows 7, silent setup must be run from elevated Command prompt.
In the Install directory on your CD-ROM choose 32-bit or 64-bit version and run pshome.msi.
Use the following syntax:
msiexec.exe /i pshome.msi
Example:
msiexec.exe /i pshome.msi INSTALLDIR="F:\Program Files\Protector Suite 2009" /q
You can specify the following properties:

Setup Driver at first time:

Windows 2000 , XP :
Step 1. Before installing the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver, Press the
[Cancel] button if Windows detect the Multimedia Audio device.
Step 2. Run the setup.exe program to start the installation.
Step 3. Click on [Next] to continue the procedure. If the Windows popup
"Digital Signature Not Found" message, press [Yes] to continue the
installation.
Step 4. Finally, select to restart the system and press [Finish] to complete
the installation.
Windows Vista, Windows7 :
Step 1. Run the setup.exe program to start the installation.
Step 2. Click on [Next] to continue the procedure. If the Windows popup
"Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software" message,
press "Install this driver software anyway" to continue the installation.
Step 3. Finally, select to restart the system and press [Finish] to complete
the installation.

Step 1. Follow Step 2,3,4 described in [Setup at first time] above to complete
the procedure.
Windows Vista, Windows7 :
Step 1. Run setup.exe, it will remove the original driver in your system.

Step 3. Once after the original driver removed , reboot the computer.
Step 4. Please go back to the new driver package after computer restarted.
Step 5. Run setup.exe, it will install the new audio driver then.

Only external releases have been documented.
Other releases were for internal use, beta tests, or for specific

Bug Fixes
-Fixed the parameter in SetCurrentDevice to be the device index, not the
device handle.
-Applied NavPoint features for OEM Pnp ID SYN0B0E.
-Check if Vista ahead of send WM_APP message.
-Changed to use WM_APP instead of WM_USER message.
-Chenged to use a different WM_APP message for mouse control.
-Removed a device (could be a real mouse) from the Pnp exclusion list.
-Added SYN0301 to an OEM customers INF file.
-Added an empty string check before we attempt to convert the path resource
ID to an integer for OSD settings. If the string is empty, we skip and
retrieve the next token.
-Changed 2 other implementations of the tokenize function to check for
empty strings.
-Fixed a bug where in Vista x64 SynTPStart could not bring up the
Enhancments application (SyntpEnh.exe).
-Added basic On Screen Button click code for OSD. At this stage we can
determine which object we have clicked on, but no action is being
performed yet.
-Added a new Pnp ID SYN1911 for an OEM customer.
-Added the "Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing
device is attached" feature to the settings for OEM Pnp ID SYN0A0D.
-Added a new Pnp ID SYN014C for an OEM customer.

WHAT IS PROTECTOR SUITE QL
Protector Suite QL is a desktop security and convenience product
for Windows 2000, XP and Vista. Its components provide an easy
and convenient access to your computer, web pages, and sensitive
files using a biometric device. The product is designed
to be extremely easy to install and to use.
Protector Suite QL enables
- fingerprint logon (with boot security support for strip sensor)
- fingerprint fast user switching (on Windows XP/Vista)
- accessing web pages and replaying forms using your fingerprint
- registering dialogs
- storing and accessing your sensitive files in a special "File Safe" archive using your fingerprints
- launching favorite application using your fingerprints

INSTALLATION
Protector Suite QL installation is carried out by the Setup
wizard. It is recommended to read explaining texts in wizard
screens to avoid potential problems. The detailed description of
the installation procedure can be found in the user documentation.
Authentication hardware is installed together with the whole product.
If you use an external type of hardware, connect it after you install
the software part. You will be asked to do so after you reboot
the computer after installation and log on your computer. If any problems,
drivers and instructions can be found in tc-driver folder.

1. Driver Installation for Windows 2000/XP
Use this procedure if you use Windows 2000/XP:
1) From the Start menu, select Settings, Control Panel.
2) Double-click Mouse to open Mouse Properties.
3) Select the Hardware tab, and then click Properties.
4) Select the Driver tab, and then click Change.
5) Click Next.
6) Select Display a list of the known drivers for this
device so that I can choose a specific driver, and
then click Next.
7) Click Have Disk.
8) Click Browse.
9) Choose specific directory name that you have copied
driver files.
10) Click Apfiltr.inf, and then click Open.
11) Click OK.
12) Click Alps Pointing-device, and then click Next.
13) Click Next to copy the driver files to your system.
14) Click Finish.
15) Click Close.
16) Click Yes, then restart PC automatically.

How to use this RTLSetup Utility

For Windows ME:
1. If the Operating System's New Hardware Wizard prompts you that
"New Hardware Found" for the "PCI Ethernet Controller", you should
click "Next" until "Finish" is clicked and without specifying
location of the driver. You will see the "PCI Ethernet Controller"
in the Device Manager.
2. Then you can install or update the NDIS driver with "setup" or
"setup -s" command:
a) setup: The InstallShield will prompt you the steps to install
or upgrade the driver.
b) setup -s: The InstallShield will complete the installation or
upgrade without prompting you any instruction.
You need to reboot the system immediately after the Install shield
completes the installation/upgrade.
3. Do not click "Cancel" during New Hardware Wizard searches for the
driver.
4. You can remove RTLSetup utility from Add/Remove Program Palette in
Control Panel, the InstallShield will prompt you the steps to remove
the driver. After remove the driver, please restart the system
immediately.
For Windows 2000/XP:
