A. Using Windows Utility TINSTALL
---------------------------------
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
=======================
The graphic installation program (TINSTALL) supports a simple six-step installation procedure for the display driver setup program, the power management program and the UNinstall program.
To use TINSTALL, follow the 6 steps below:
1. Ensure that MS Windows 3.1 is up and running properly, using the standard
VGA driver.
2. Select the MAIN group in Program Manager.
3. Click on FILE or press ALT + F.
4. Press R to get to the command line.
5. Type in "A:TINSTALL" (if the display driver disk is in the B drive then TYPE in "B:TINSTALL") and then press ENTER.
6. A menu will appear, presenting a choice of Express or Custom Installation.
Express Installation is quick and decision free. Display drivers will be
copied into the TRIDENT.XGI directory and Utility files will be copied into
the TRIDENT.UTL directory. Once all files are copied, a program group
called DISPLAY DRIVER AND UTILITY will be created.
Custom installation allows control over file storage and in what program group the icons are placed. The first dialog box that appears shows the default directory to which the display drivers will be copied. To change the directory name select the default name, delete it and then enter the desired directory name.
Once the desired directory name is selected, continue the installation procedure by selecting CONTINUE, or by pressing ENTER. The next dialog box displays a summary of where files are stored. Select CONTINUE to copy the drivers and utilities files. When all files are copied, the program will present a choice of program groups where the icons will be created. Create a new group to place the utility icons or select from pre-existing groups (e.g. main, applications, accessories etc.).
When all necessary files are copied and a group name is selected, the Tinstall program will create three icons :
a. Screen Control (Used to configure display drivers)
b. UNinstall (Used to delete the installed TRIDENT drivers)
c. DPMS (Used for power management configurations)
a. SCREEN CONTROL
=================
The screen control program supports the following options :
i) Select a Display Driver.
ii) Select resolution, color depth, and font size.
iii) Select refresh rate.
iv) Enable and customize virtual screen (advanced).
v) Detect DDC monitor and display the information about that DDC monitor.
To select a Display Driver, run the Screen Control program by double-clicking
on the Screen Control icon with the mouse, or high light the icon and press
ENTER. A Display Driver Setup window will appear on the screen. This
window displays a list of available Display Drivers, and if in current use . Select the desired Display Driver and then click on SELECT. The next window that appears is used to configure display resolution, refresh rate, color depth and font size. Selection of these parameters are made by clicking on the respective values. Select the button labeled "OK" to implement the selection.

2. Select "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacture" item,
and press the "OK" button.
3. When the "Install From Disk" dialog box appears, select the
drive/directory that the M3307.inf is located. For example, select the
drive A, "A:\".

OMEGA 82C094 Rev. A Demo Diskette ==============
This bootable diskette contains SystemSoft Cardsoft 3.1 PCMCIA driver
for OMEGA 82C094 PCI-to-PCMCIA host controller. Since OMEGA 82C094 uses
Intel 82092AA PPEC compatible register set. It will work with all existing
software written for Intel 82092AA - including SystemSoft CardSoft,
Phoenix PCM31, Award Cardware, AMI AMICARDZ and MicroSoft Windows 95.
Because PCI SIG requires a unique ID for each vendor, for DOS and
Windows 3.1, a companion driver - OMEGA094.SYS - is included in this
diskette to be loaded before socket service driver to resolve this issue.
For Windows 95, plug in the demo board in a PCI slot, Windows 95 will
pick it up during boot up and ask for a OEM diskette, insert this diskette
then do as Window 95 instructs. After Windows 95 boot up, you need to go to
"control panel", click "system" then select "device manager", make sure
"original configuration" is enabled in the lower box.
Please note that this diskette is only for evaluation purpose. Please
feel free to call our technical support at (408) 992-1110 should any problem
encountered.

Observations
This diskette contains two binary files that implement the SMC prototype driver
for Infrared communication as described by IrDA and a simple INF script for
installing the driver in the Windows 95 system. This version of the VCOMM
driver implements all IrDA speeds.
1. UPDATES
This version of the Vcomm driver offers the following improvements:
* support for the upper ISA DMA channels (5-7) in the 16-bit mode
* support redirected DMA channels in the PCI-ISA bridge
* supports 576kbps fast IrDA speed
2. INSTALLATION
To install these files, unpack the zip archive attachment. This archive
contains three files:
serial.vxd
irlapfrm.vxd
smc_inst.inf
readme.txt
There are three alternative methods of installing the SMC IrDA Vcomm driver:
- using WINSTALL.EXE program
or
- using the INF file provided (automated installation)
or
- by hand.
Remember that the installation of the Infrared driver is not trivial and
that it requires the knowledge of the configuration of the system resources.
There exist no standard hardware configurations for the Infrared
communications - each installation depends TOTALLY on the particular
system configuration.
ALL INSTALLATION METHODS REQUIRE PRIOR INSTALLATION OF MICROSOFT'S MSIR20
PRODUCT. OBTAIN THIS PRODUCT (MSIR20) FROM MICROSOFT DIRECTLY BEFORE
INSTALLING SMC'C INFRARED VCOMM DRIVER.
2.1 Automated installation using WINSTALL.
Insert the distribution diskette in the disk drive. Then use
menu to select the WINSTALL.EXE program. Run this program.
This installation utility will query the user for the values of the
hardware resources that are configured for the SMC'c IrCC controller.
Be sure to select the values that reflect your hardware setup.
