Installing the Synaptics TouchPad Driver
-------------------------------------------
This driver requires Windows 2000.
NOTE REGARDING SAVING OF SETTINGS:
----------------------------------
Windows 2000 does not save any of the user settings for users belonging
to the "Guests" user group. This includes special TouchPad settings as
well as all other user settings. If you want your settings to be saved,
make sure your user account does not belong to the "Guests" group
using the User Manager program (you must be Administrator to change
user settings).
NOTE REGARDING MULTIPROCESSOR MACHINES:
---------------------------------------
Though we believe it should work, this driver has not been tested on
any multiprocessor machines.
Installation procedure
-------------------------------------------------------
First, if you have a new TouchPad, plug it in and reboot Windows 2000.
Windows 2000 will then detect your new TouchPad and install a standard
mouse driver to handle it. You cannot install the Synaptics TouchPad
driver until this process is complete and your TouchPad is functioning
as a normal pointing device.
Log on to your system as "Administrator", or as another user with
administrator privileges.
Run "Setup.exe". This program will automatically install the Synaptics
TouchPad driver to handle all PS/2 and Serial pointing devices
attached to your computer.
You will need to restart Windows after the installation is complete.
If the driver has been installed correctly, after you have restarted
Windows you should see the TouchPad Icon in your task bar next to the
clock. Also, a dialog box entitled "Information about your TouchPad"
will pop up. You can prevent this dialog box from coming up in the
future by checking the "Stop showing me this message" checkbox.
For help using your TouchPad, choose "Tell me more..." from the
"Information about your TouchPad" dialog box, or double-click on the
TouchPad Icon in your task bar, and click on the "Help" button.
If you wish to change one or more of your pointing devices to using
a standard Microsoft or other third party driver, you should bring
up the Mouse control panel, and select the "Hardware" tab. From there,
select the pointing device you want to change and click "Properties".
Select the "Driver" tab and Click "Update Driver...". Follow the
instructions to install a new driver.

>>>DynamicAccess LAN agent and
Windows Millennium Edition (Me)
DynamicAccess LAN agent software is not supported
on PCs running Windows Me. If you tried installing
DynanmicAccess LAN agent on a Windows Me PC,
you may lose network connectivity. To resolve this,
remove the DynamicAccess LAN agent software:
1. Open the Add/Remove Programs icon in the
Windows Control Panel.
2. Select the DynamicAccess Software entry, and
then click Remove.
3. Reboot the PC when prompted.
>>> Installing ODI 32 LAN driver supporting multiple
3C905B or 3905C NICs
If you are using the ODI 32 LAN driver in a system with
more than one 3C905B or 3C905C NIC installed and you
are using Novell server revision 5.1, you need to upgrade
the Novell 5.1 server to either Service Pack 1 or Novell 5.1
International versions. If this upgrade is not done and you
unload the ODI 32 LAN driver, the server will abend.
>>> Warm booting with the DOS-based drivers running
3Com has found that some older systems do not reset the
PCI Bus when the key combination
(a "warm boot") is used to restart the PC. If the system
does not reset the PCI Bus when a warm boot occurs, the
3Com NIC remains in a running state that can cause problems
if there is any network activity before the driver is reloaded.
This problem can be avoided by pressing the PC's reset
button (if your PC has one) or by turning the PC completely off
before restarting.
>>> DOS diagnostics incompatibility with 3C905B NIC in
Plug and Play PCI computers
During testing, 3Com encountered incompatibilities with the
3C905B&C NIC family and the some PCs when loading the
3Com DOS Configuration and Diagnostics program. This
happens when the PnP OS option is enabled in the BIOS
settings. When the computer is booted, configuration
resources are not assigned to the NIC. 3Com recommends
that you change the PnP OS setting to disabled, save that
configuration, reboot the computer to DOS, then run the
3Com DOS Configuration and Diagnostic program.
>>> Network Test using a crossover cable
The Network Test in the 3Com Diagnostics program for
Windows verifies the NIC's ability to transmit and receive
data while on the network. There are two ways to perform
the test:
--Connect two PCs to the same network (using a hub
or switch).
--Connect two PCs directly to each other using a
crossover cable.

O2Micro CardBus Controller INF File Update Utility Version V032102
This utility is used for updating the O2Micro CardBus Controller device descriptions found in the device manager. Some versions of Windows will show a “Generic CardBus Controller” device description in device manager. This is because some CardBus controllers were released after some versions of Windows were released. Even though the device is described as “Generic” the driver is correct and the device will function normally. However, you can update the device description very easily by running the appropriate “Setup” utility. There are separate utilities for XP, Win2K and Win98 (ME & SE & RTM). Be notify must remove the floppy disk after setup program reboot the system.
For multi-language support, the appropriate “xxxx.dat” file must be copied to the “MultiLang” subdirectory in either the “Win2K” or “Win9x” directory. Please refer to the “Multi-Language Table” below to find the name of “xxxx.dat” file for the language you wish to support.
