TOSHIBA,MKE,TEAC How to install the device driver under DOS environment

To operate TEAC CD-ROM,the device driver (TEAC_CDI.SYS) has to be installed
from INSTALLATION DISK came along with CD-ROM.
Please follow the instruction below.

1. Boot up the system and insert the INSTALLATION DISK into your floppy
disk drive.

2. At the DOS prompt,type "A:\INSTALL" then press enter. (If your floppy
disk drive is "A:")

3. Installation program will now start.Please follow the instructions on the
screen to complete the installation procedure.

4. When finish,remove the INSTALLATION DISK from the floppy disk drive then
REBOOT your system.

During system reboot,check for the following message to assure that
the driver was loaded properly.

NOTE REGARDING SAVING OF SETTINGS:
----------------------------------
Windows 2000 does not save any of the user settings for users belonging
to the "Guests" user group. This includes special TouchPad settings as
well as all other user settings. If you want your settings to be saved,
make sure your user account does not belong to the "Guests" group
using the User Manager program (you must be Administrator to change
user settings).

NOTE REGARDING MULTIPROCESSOR MACHINES:
---------------------------------------
Though we believe it should work, this driver has not been tested on
any multiprocessor machines.

Installation procedure
-------------------------------------------------------
First, if you have a new TouchPad, plug it in and reboot Windows 2000.
Windows 2000 will then detect your new TouchPad and install a standard
mouse driver to handle it. You cannot install the Synaptics TouchPad
driver until this process is complete and your TouchPad is functioning
as a normal pointing device.

Log on to your system as "Administrator", or as another user with
administrator privileges.

Run "Setup.exe". This program will automatically install the Synaptics
TouchPad driver to handle all PS/2 and Serial pointing devices
attached to your computer.

You will need to restart Windows after the installation is complete.
If the driver has been installed correctly, after you have restarted
Windows you should see the TouchPad Icon in your task bar next to the
clock. Also, a dialog box entitled "Information about your TouchPad"
will pop up. You can prevent this dialog box from coming up in the
future by checking the "Stop showing me this message" checkbox.

For help using your TouchPad, choose "Tell me more..." from the
"Information about your TouchPad" dialog box, or double-click on the
TouchPad Icon in your task bar, and click on the "Help" button.

If you wish to change one or more of your pointing devices to using
a standard Microsoft or other third party driver, you should bring
up the Mouse control panel, and select the "Hardware" tab. From there,
select the pointing device you want to change and click "Properties".
Select the "Driver" tab and Click "Update Driver...". Follow the
instructions to install a new driver.

A1 Series Notebook BIOS UPDATE Procedure
(1) Make a DOS boot diskette without autoexec.bat and config.sys files. Copy the AFLASH.EXE, and unzipped BIOS image files (ex. A1F0104A.ROM) to this diskette.
(2) Boot the system and use the boot diskette you just created. Then type
AFLASH [ENTER].
(3) When the flash memory writer utility starts up, you will be offered two
options:
1. Save Current BIOS to File
2. Update BIOS Including Boot Block and ESCD
(4) Please choice [2] and then type a1f0104a.rom (say if you wanna to update to rev.
0109) and press [ENTER].
(5) Then type [Y] to make sure updating BIOS successfully.
(6) Assuming that you have successfully flashed the BIOS. After the system reboots, hit
[F2] to enter the CMOS Setup. At this point, go to "Load Setup Defaults" field at "Exit"
sub-menu. Then save and exit Setup.

1. Hardware Installation
1-1.Installing a Serial Mouse
You must have a PC fitted with a serial port(COM1/COM2) in order to
install the mouse. Plug your mouse into the serial port.

1-2.Installing a Mouse with Mouse Port (PS/2) Connector
If you have a mouse with a round mouse port connector, you must turn off
the computer before connecting or disconnecting your mouse.

1-3.Installing a Combo Mouse
The Combo Mouse comes with a PS/2 (DIN 6) cable connector, together with
a PS/2 -> Serial (COM 9) port adapter.
Before plug your mouse into the computer, try to make sure what kind of
mouse port you have. If you have a PS/2 port, plug in the original PS/2
cable connector; if you have a Serial port, please connect the adapter
first to the cable, then plug into the Serial port.
1. Turn the computer off.
2. Locate an available 6-pin round port on your computer.
3. Insert the mouse connector into the round mouse port.
4. Start your computer.
2. Mouse Driver Installation

Mouse software supports DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98,
Windows NT 3.51, Windows NT 4.0, and Windows 2000.

Before installing any software under Windows NT 4.0, we
strongly recommend you create an Emergency Repair Disk using

How to install ACPI HotKey Control Driver in Windows 2000

Install:
========
1. During Win2000 OS found a "Unknown" device.
2. Click on "Search for a suitable driver for my device(recommended) and click "Next" button
3. Only choice "Specify a location" and click on "Next" button.
4. Click on "Browse..." to your driver location. (example: CDROM driver:\ATK0100\Win2000)
