Observations
BootBIOS for x86 platforms and x64 platforms that support legacy BIOS. The adapter boot BIOS provides x86 boot capability through the use of INT13
system BIOS calls. The adapter Boot BIOS supports:
(1) Multi-topology: Fabric Point to Point; FC-AL: Private loop and Public loop
topologies.
(2) Multi-initiators: The adapter BIOS supports up to 32 Emulex LightPulse
adapters in a system.
(3) Multi-LUNs: The adapter BIOS supports up to 256 LUNs.
(4) Multi-boot: The adapter BIOS complies with the BIOS Boot Specification
(BBS).
(5) EDD (Enhanced Disk Drive Services): The adapter BIOS supports both the
EDD 3.0 and EDD 2.1 specifications depending on the selection in the
adapter BIOS configuration utility.
(6) Boot fail over feature: There are eight boot entries that can be
configured in the adapter BIOS configuration utility. If the first boot
entry fails the system is still able to boot from the second configured
boot entry and so on.

***** Important Note ******
(1) BIOS downloading
The adapter boot BIOS image has increased in size to 49K. As a result, it might
fail during the downloading of the BIOS .prg file. One way to correct the
problem is to download the firmware .AWC file WITHOUT the BIOS image
(for example: dd390a7.awc) and then download the adapter boot BIOS .prg file.
(2) BIOS was not activated (Enabled)
If the adapter boot BIOS is not enabled by LP6DUTIL or an Emulex O.S.
configuration utility, the adapter and the drives connected to the adapter
cannot not be configured to be used to boot the system. In addition if there is
a "No BIOS support" message displayed next to this adapter in the adapter BIOS
configuration utility the user must use LP6DUTIL or other Emulex O.S.
configuration utility to enable the adapter boot BIOS in order to allow this adapter
to be used a bootable controller by the host system.

Observations
Changes and Corrections:
Corrected response in a RCV_SEQ_LIST64 IOCB. (CR 11220)
Ensure that there is at least one credit when doing REG LOGIN to
fabric port. (CR 12460, 12466, 14357)
Parity errors due to loop init received during speed negotiation
are now processed properly. (CR 13463, 14239, 14241)
Corrected a problem where the download of corrupted firmware would
return the proper error, but refuse any further commands.
(CR 13241, 14584)
Improved handling of the RESET_RING command to completely initialize
the ring and no longer return an unnecessary response.
(CR 13325, 13631, 13632, 13374, 14446, 14450, 14589)
Ensure that no frames waiting for resources are accidentally released
on to the link when killing exchanges.
(CR 12183, 13630, 14591, 14447)
Invalid exchange handling was improved by not issuing an error when
buffers are returned for use. (CR 13413, 14593)
Added code to correctly process and count error counter overflows.
(CR 13328, 13629, 14444, 14594)
Receiving a LIP while loop master and while waiting for LIHA will no
longer cause a timeout. (CR 13636, 13638, 14448, 14595)
Response to an unsolicited IP broadcast frame was corrected to comply
with FC spec. (CR 11019, 14596)
Corrected a dropped IWRITE command when using discontinuous buffer
descriptor entries (BDEs). (CR 10342, 10447, 14597)
Allow use of a different FLASH memory chip [AM29LV160DB].
(CR 14599, 13059, 12545)
An uninitialized value (usually zero) was being returned for the ED_TOV
value when a default value of 10 was actually being used by the
firmware. The reported value is now correctly intialized to 10.
(CR 14108, 14603)
Corrected the reason and explanation codes given to the tape drive
in an LS_RJT response to REC ELS. This allows a Solaris host to
retry the command. (CR 10121, 9489)
Development, desk checks and source code review found possible problems
that had no reported instances of failure.
(CR 14066, 14359, 13393, 14586, 14115, 14602, 11934, 14604, 11933,
14605, 11932, 14606, 11931, 14607, 14751)
If you use LP6DUTIL to upgrade the firmware, you must use version
8.6a4 or higher. The latest version of LP6DUTIL is included in
this kit.
Several files, such as the .DWC files and /prg_kit/ files, have been
eliminated from this kit in order to simplify the update process and
ensure correct operation of the updated HBA.

Observations
Changes and Corrections:
Added or refined features as per customer requests. (CR 8636, 8663,
9182, 8080, 8082, 9811, 9864, 10120, 10574)
Several symptoms, ranging from I/O errors to HBA hang, were caused by
the power management reset process and Solaris "Dynamic Reconfiguration"
process, both of which required a change in the HBA to assure that the
PCI configuration was ready within a very short time after HBA reset.
(CR 5204, 6941, 6961, 7097, 8634, 8635, 8637, 8638, 9398, 10212)
Enabled use of LP952 with Open Source Linux 2.01 and newer.
(CR 9362)
Corrected an incorrect response to an RRQ timeout. ABTS is now sent
if the RRQ to the host times out. (CR 10119, 9364)
When several commands were issued to the HBA and then one was aborted,
the firmware would occasionally not throw away all the frames for the
aborted exchange. The result was that the HBA would stop transmitting
R-RDY and no further credit would be issued. The rare instance in which
this could happen has been corrected. (CR 9393)
A rare condition where an incorrect IOCB could be returned to the host
if the exchange is aborted before the buffer list has been queued by the
host has been corrected. (CR 10117, 10058)
WWN upon receipt of a fiber login is now validated to avoid a problem
where the switch tries to access the HBA as a G-port,
(CR 10229, 10568, 10569)
FCP recovery has been improved by including the proper reason codes
for tapes. (CR 10173, 10575, 9530)
A switch login problem in point-to-point-only mode with certain
transceivers has been corrected. (CR 9406)
A CLOSE in point-to-point mode is no longer ignored. This corrects a
deadlock problem in OldPort mode when connecting to a switch.
(CR 9438)
A rare instance where the wrong exchange is aborted could eventually
cause the IO_TAG to be reused. The problem has been corrected by
matching the abort to the correct exchange by validating the IO_TAG.
(CR 10118, 9809)
Development, desk checks and source code review found possible problems
that had no reported instances of failure.
(CR 11625, 10122, 8763, 8791, 9394)
Known Issues:
The following issues have been reported at the time of publication.
These issues may not yet have been verified or confirmed and may
apply to another product, such as the driver or hardware.
LP6DUTIL v9.2a4 does not support disabling or enabling the
Boot BIOS Banner. This will be corrected in the next release.
Cautions and Warnings:
If you use LP6DUTIL to upgrade the firmware, you must use version
8.6a4 or higher. The latest version of LP6DUTIL is included in
this kit.
The LP6DUTIL utility version 9.x represents a departure from
the traditional command-line structure, and it now uses a
graphical-type user interface. It also uses a different method
of implementing scripts than did earlier LP6DUTIL versions.

Qualification: Microsoft currently does not offer an FCoE WHQL "Certified for Windows" logo program. When the Storport Miniport driver is used with a standard Fibre Channel HBA, the driver is qualified for the "Certified for Windows" logo program. When the Storport MiniPort driver is used with an FCoE CNA, the driver is considered "unclassified" by Microsoft. In both cases, the Storport Miniport drivers are digitally signed by Microsoft and will be recognized by both Windows Sever 2003 and Windows Server 2008.
Note >Windows Server 2003 SP2 and the KB943545 update to the Microsoft Storport driver are required. The KB943545 update must be applied before the Emulex Storport Miniport driver can be installed.

Note For Windows Server 2003, SP2 and Hotfix Q957910 update to the Microsoft STORPort driver are required. The STORPort KB update must be applied before the Emulex STORPort Miniport driver can be installed.
For Windows Server 2008, SP2 and Hotfix Q968675 update to the Microsoft STORPort driver are required. The STORPort KB update must be applied before the Emulex STORPort Miniport driver can be installed.
For Windows Server 2008 R2, no Hotfix is required

New features, fixed issues and known issues in the driver
New Features in Version 2.20.006
1. Added ExtTransferSize parameter. This parameter improves performance on tape devices supporting a larger block size.
2. Added support for Windows Server 2008 R2. This version of the driver kit adds support for Windows Server 2008 R2.
Resolved Issues in Version 2.20.006
1. There was the potential for the driver and the HBA to not synchronize properly, after the HBA was in warm start mode. Polling was modified in the HBAnyware utility.
2. The internal and external loopback diagnostic tests were not available for LP21000 and LP21002 adapters.
Known Issues in Version 2.20.006
1. The HBAnyware GUI is not available on the IA64 architecture. If you are installing on an IA64 system use the HBACMD command line utility, which is available in the Storport Miniport driver and core (CLI) application kit, instead of the Storport Miniport driver and HBAnyware kit.
Workaround: There is no workaround at this time.
2. Do not perform software-first installations on Windows Server 2008 or Vista systems. The procedure documented in the driver user manual might not have the expected effect. No error will be reported, but Windows might continue using the version of the driver distributed with the operating system rather than the new driver when an adapter is installed. The problem occurs because Microsoft-distributed drivers are versioned differently than Emulex- distributed drivers.
Workaround: There is no workaround at this time.
3. To revert to an older driver after a newer driver has been installed, you must uninstall all Emulex software and drivers before installing the older driver kit. Failure to do so could leave your system in an unsupported state. See the driver user manual for all the procedures you must follow.
Workaround: There is no workaround at this time.
4. Due to an issue with HBAnyware version 4.1, the default global driver parameters for converged network adapters (CNAs) cannot be changed.
Workaround: There is no workaround at this time.

Observations
Qualification: The Storport Miniport driver is WHQL qualified for the Microsoft "Designed for Windows" logo program and digitally signed for x86, Itanium and x64 Editions versions of Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition.
Note Windows Server 2003 SP1 or SP2 and the KB943545 update to the Microsoft Storport driver are required. The KB943545 update must be applied before the Emulex Storport Miniport driver version 2.01a4 can be installed.
Driver 2.01a4 can be used to new install new Boot from SAN configurations with SP2. After the installation completes and the system reboots, install STORPort hotfix Q943545. The HBAnyware management application can be installed with the full Storport Miniport kit or by manually installing the Emulex PLUS driver and the driver utilities package.
Driver 2.01a4 cannot be used to directly install new Boot from SAN configurations with SP1. With SP1, new Boot from SAN configurations require the initial installation to be done with driver 1.30a9. Once the OS is installed, then upgrade to SP2 and STORPort hotfix Q943545 before upgrading to driver 2.01a4.
