Mac OS X – Wireless setup
Connecting to an existing wireless network under Mac OS X (using built-in AirPort
wireless) once wireless networking has been setup is quite straightforward –
simply click on the icon on the menu bar along the top (see highlight in
screenshot) and select the network you wish to connect to. Mac OS will list all
networks detected within range. If the network has security (WEP/WPA) enabled,
it will pop up a dialog box to enter the necessary settings.
To set up wireless networking initially, go to the Apple Menu and select System
Preferences (highlighted in screenshot). Below is a screenshot of the security
prompt when connecting to a secured network.
If using AirPort, configuration is found under Network; if using one of our
adapters, such as a DWL-G122, an additional icon will appear near the bottom to
configure it (see screenshot).
Double-clicking on the Network icon will take you to the screen shown on the
next page.
To configure the AirPort interface, simply double-click on that entry in the list.
This will open up another screen for further configuration. All known networks
(previously configured or currently in range) will appear in this list, and can be
edited as well as sorted in order of preference.
Clicking the TCP/IP tab will allow you to configure TCP/IP settings; you can
choose between manual configuration and DHCP. If you select DHCP, there is an
option to manually enter the IP address only, but obtain all other settings
automatically.

System Requirements:
A computer or laptop with an available USB port
Windows XP/2000/Me/98SE
At least 32MB of memory and a 300MHz processor
Properly installed and working USB Controller
Introduction
The D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G122 Wireless USB Adapter is a convenient Plug
& Play USB 2.0 solution that brings wireless networking to your laptop or desktop PC.
With transfer rates up to 54Mbps you can connect to a wireless network at
home, at the office or at any wireless hotspot. Now you can stay connected
wherever you are and wherever you go.
The DWL-G122 is Wi-Fi compliant, meaning that it can connect and interoperate
with other 802.11b or 802.11g Wi-Fi-compliant wireless routers, access points
and adapters. The DWL-G122 connects to any available USB port on a laptop
or desktop Windows and and also includes a USB cradle. With the optional
USB cradle, the DWL-G122 can be positioned virtually anywhere at a
workstation to achieve the best available wireless signal reception - whether that
workstation is in your office, on your deck or patio, by the pool, at the local
coffee shop, or in an airport terminal while waiting to board your next flight.
The adapter works with Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000 and other
Windows operating systems to ensure that you'll be up and running on a
wireless network in just a matter of seconds.
Using its default settings, the DWL-G122 automatically connects to other
D-Link Air or AirPlus wireless products as soon as it’s active.
In addition to featuring 64- or 128-bit WEP encryption, the DWL-G122 offers
the added security of WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) when used with other
WPA devices in a network with a RADIUS server.
For home users that will not incorporate a RADIUS server in their network, the
security for the DWL-G122, used in conjunction with other WPA-compatible
802.11 products, will still be much stronger than ever before when you use the
Pre- Shared Key mode of WPA.

Mac OS X – DWL-G122 Wireless setup
Please refer to Mac OS X wireless setup document for instructions on how to
access DWL-G122 setup. Note that the screenshots below were taken without a
DWL-G122 unit plugged in to the Mac; the utility will show details of the wireless
network it is currently connected to otherwise.
The main setup screen is shown below. After performing a scan, the list of
available wireless networks will be populated with all networks found in range.
The best way to configure settings for these is to select one, then click on “Add to
Profile” and open up the Profile Drawer.
The profile drawer simply lists all networks it currently has settings stored for. To
edit settings, highlight the one you want and click on EDIT; to connect, click on
ACTIVATE.
It is rarely necessary to change the settings under “System Configuration”, as
these should be detected when performing a site survey. The “Authentication &
Security” tab is more relevant, as this is where security settings for secure
networks are entered.
