Observations
Notice: The firmware in this update is subject to the same usage terms as the firmware it replaces in the device.
To do the update, perform all of the following steps in order:
1. Do not remove power from the device until the process is complete as the device will be ruined.
2. Unzip the update.bin file and save it to the root folder of a USB thumb (flash, pen) drive. (note: root refers to the main folder, not a folder with the name of ‘root’).
3. Make sure the file is completely copied to the drive before removing it (use the ‘Safely Remove Hardware’ icon in the system tray of the PC).
2. Press the Setup button on the DSM-330 remote to display the main setup menu (DivXConnected Device).
3. Insert the USB drive with the update.bin file into the USB slot of your DivX Connected DSM-330 device.
4. If there is a USB Firmware Update option on the second page of the setup menu, select it. Otherwise press the following numeric sequence on the remote: 2828464631
5. There is no feedback for the number presses, but if done correctly, you will see an update message.
6. The update takes about 10 minutes and there is NO progress feedback.
7. You will see a completion message when it is done updating. After the completion message, remove power from the device for a few seconds, then turn it back on
Troubleshooting hints:
If the device gives a message of “Unable to find update.bin”, please go to the setup menu and choose the "Restore Factory Default Settings" option and choose reset, then remove the power cable from the device. Then re-try the instructions above.
If the device still gives a message of “Unable to find update.bin”, it could mean one of the following:
The update.bin file is not the USB drive.
The update.bin file is not named correctly.
The files system of the USB drive is may not be compatible with the DSM-330. The device supports FAT and FAT32 file systems and does not support NTSF. In order to verify if this the issue, insert the drive in the PC’s USB slot and then open a My Computer window and right click the mouse on USB drive icon and choose “Properties” to see what file system is being used. The file system can be changed by using the “Format” option, but great care must be taken to back up the contents of the drive prior to doing this since all data on the chosen drive will be erased. Also be very careful in choosing the correct drive when performing a format.
If the device gives a message of “Unable to write update.bin” it means that the update.bin file is correct or not the correct one for the device.

Troubleshooting Quick Guide
If the screen/video flickers up and down…
• Check to see if your TV has vertical hold (V-Hold) and adjust as needed.
If everything is black and white…
• You may have a PAL TV and the device is configured for NTSC, or vise versa.
• Press ‘Setup’ on your remote, go to ‘Display>Display Settings>High Definition>’ and choose a setting for PAL or
NTSC as appropriate for your TV type.
If HDMI doesn’t work…
Try one or more of the following:
• Turn the DivX Connected™ device off and then on again.
• Press the ‘Setup’ button on the remote and re-run the Setup Wizard.
• Make sure your TV is on and set to the appropriate HDMI input.
• Try using the component, composite or S-Video inputs to see if you can get any video signal.
If there is no sound over HDMI…
• Try adjusting the volume on both your TV and the DivX Connected device.
• Try using the RCA cable to connect the DivX Connected device to those inputs, if your TV has dedicated red/white
RCA connectors for the HDMI input.
• Try running everything through a receiver/sound system instead of directly to the TV.
If the device does not respond to the remote control properly…
• Check that the batteries are fresh and properly installed in the remote.
• Some large plasma TVs cause interference with the IR remote. Try moving the device to the side or slightly
behind the TV screen.
If you get a blank screen after initial power up screen…
• Try pressing the ‘Setup’ button on the remote and choose ‘Display > Display Settings > Standard Definition’. It
may be that your TV does not support HDTV formats.
• Exit and restart the DivX Connected Server application.
• Restart your computer.
If you can’t connect to a wireless network…
• If your configuration was previously working but now does not, turn off your router and turn it back on again.
• Make sure you have the correct router security encryption key, if wireless security is enabled on your router.
• Try a different type of encryption or test with no security.
• Try a different wireless channel.
• Make sure DHCP is enabled on your router.

DIVX Connected Server - support for MKV file playback… Release Notes for Server Release 1.5.0 build 75

What's New:
* Support for MKV file playback (transcoded on the server).
* Music Albums with proper track info in the metadata are displayed based on track number.
* Integrated Connected PC client with mouse support and much better performance than previous DCMP client.
Known Issues:
* There may be a 10 second delay in Connected PC when returning to normal play speed after fast forwarding or rewinding.
* Downgrading from Server 1.5 to a previous version of Connected Server requires that the Server 1.5 be uninstalled first. Plug-ins, Themes and metadata can be retained if you choose to not remove them during uninstall.
Bug Fixes:
* MKV file with double byte characters such as umlauts are now recognized in the 10' UI.
* Fixed issue that caused photos over network to not display.
* Photo Thumbnails reflect the correct orientation of the image.
* When using the virtual keyboard (examples; in Picasa or Hulu Plug-ins) the DELETE button on the remote deletes characters. No need to navigate to ‘Delete’ on the virtual keyboard.
* Fixed Jittery video playback (no need for the DLL patch) which was introduced in Server 1.4
* Fixed issue that caused subfolders to sometimes sort incorrectly.
* Progress bar during WMA playback now displays correctly
* Fixed a number of playback and scanner issues with MKV and non-DivX videos files (such as WMV)
