Connecting the Router to Your Computer
A. First, connect the power adapter to the power input at the back panel of the DSL-G624T, then plug the other end of the power adapter to a wall outlet or power strip. On the front of the device, the Power LED will turn ON to indicate proper operation.
B. Insert one end of the Ethernet cable into an Ethernet (LAN) port on the back panel of the DSL-G624T and the other end of the cable to an Ethernet Adapter or available Ethernet port on your computer.
C. Insert the ADSL (telephone) cable included with the Router into the ADSL port, then connect the cable to your telephone line.
Configuring the Router
You can select two methods to configure your new router. The first method is by using D-Link Click’n Connect Utility, which is included on the CD designed to run on Windows XP/2000. Just follow the instructions step by step to configure your router for Internet access for the first time.
The second method is to use your Web browser to access the built in web server pages used to setup the Router, your computer must be configured to “Obtain an IP address automatically”, that is, you must change the IP network settings of your computer so that it is a DHCP Client. If you are using Windows XP and do not know how to change your network settings, skip ahead to Appendix and read the instructions provided. You may also read the User Manual for instructions on changing IP settings for computers running Windows operating systems.
To connect to the network, make sure the network adapter in your computer is configured properly. Read the Appendix at the end of this guide to read how to configure the network adapter to obtain an IP address automatically using Windows XP.
Once you have logged in, the Home directory tab is prominent with the Setup Wizard menu displayed. Most users will be able to use the Setup Wizard to establish the ADSL connection to your ADSL Internet Service Provider (ISP). To begin using the Setup Wizard, click on the Run Wizard button in the middle of the web page. A pop-up menu will appear. This pop-up menu is the Setup Wizard. The Setup Wizard procedure consists of three general steps:
1. Choose your time zone
Please see the user manual for information on setting up wireless operation.
2. Set Internet connection
3. Save & Restart
The first Setup Wizard menu lists a summary of the steps required to complete the setup. Click the Next button to begin setup.
Now configure the Time Zone used for the Router’s system clock. Select the appropriate time zone setting for your location.
Next you will Select the Internet Connection Type for the WAN interface. Your ISP has given this information to you. If you do not know what type of connection to use, exit the Setup Wizard and contact your ISP for the information. The Setup wizard menu that appears when you click the Next button depends on what connection type you select. The connection types available in the Setup Wizard menu are PPPoE/PPPoA, Dynamic IP Address, Static IP Address and Bridge Mode. Follow the instructions below for the type of connection you are using.
PPPoE/PPPoA Connections
If you selected the PPPoE/PPPoA connection type in the previous menu, you will see the Setup Wizard menu pictured here. Type in the Username and Password used to identify and verify your account to the ISP. If you have been instructed to change the VPI number and VCI number, type in the new values. Select the Connection Type used for encapsulation specific to your service. Click Next when you are ready to continue the Setup Completed menu.
Dynamic IP Address Connections
If you selected the Dynamic IP Address connection type, select the Connection Type used for encapsulation. If you have been instructed to change the VPI number and VCI number, type in the new values. Click Next when you are ready to continue the Setup Completed menu.
Some ISP’s store the MAC address of your computer’s Ethernet address on their DHCP server. This can cause problems for the Router and other computers connecting through the Router. To use the MAC address from your computer, type the MAC address of your computer’s Ethernet adapter in the Cloned MAC Address entry field and click the Clone MAC Address button to save to transfer it to the Router.
Static IP Address Connections
If you selected the Static IP Address connection type, change the WAN IP Address, Subnet Mask, ISP Gateway Address and (if available) Secondary DNS Server IP address as instructed by your ISP. Select the Connection Type used for encapsulation. If you have been instructed to change the VPI number and VCI number, type in the new values. Click Next when you are ready to continue the Setup Completed menu.

Observations
DSL-G624T NO NAT SETUP
Follow the steps in this document if you acquired a range of public IP addresses from
your ISP and have all the required details like IP Range, Subnet Mask, Router IP and
DNS Server.
To use the public IP range on the LAN, you need to setup the DSL-G624T in NO NAT
mode. This means that functions like Network Address Translation and Firewall are
disabled. In this mode the router and all machines connected to the LAN are fully
accessible from the Internet.
1) Go to Status – Device Info and verify the firmware of your DSL-G624T. In this
example it’s dated 20060208. Firmware files are available for download from D-Link
website and ftp site.
2) Go to Home – WAN to setup the DSL-G624T with your ADSL account settings.
Set NAT and Firewall to Disable. Set IP Control to Unnumbered IP.
By default, Connection Setting is set to Always ON. Keep that setting to allow access
to the Internet continuously. Click Apply.
3) Go to Home – LAN. Set IP Address and Subnet Mask to ISP specifications.
Click Apply.
4) You cannot reach DSL-G624T using it’s default IP address, as it’s been changed.
You can either release & renew the IP address of your network card, or assign it a
static IP, from the range specified by your ISP.
5) Access the DSL-G624T configuration again by opening (in internet explorer)
http:// followed by the IP address you assigned the router in step 3.
6) Plug in the ADSL line to the DSL-G624T, wait until the ADSL LED has a solid light.
Go to Status – Device Info. Verify that WAN Status shows Connected.
Your DSL-G624T is now correctly setup for NO NAT.
Save and Reboot the device to complete setup.
DSL-524T NO NAT TROUBLESHOOTING
Tools – Misc – Ping Test
PING external domain names or IP addresses. If the DSL-524T can reach to these
external addresses, with the correct setup so should your machines on the LAN.
Home – DHCP.
If you decide to use DHCP, set the range accordingly to your ISP specifications. Don’t
include the routers’ IP address in the range. Click Apply, save and reboot the DSLG624T
then renew the IP addresses on all affected network cards.
Status – Log.
The DSL-G624T logs events about ADSL sync, connection, authentication etc.

Observations
The DSL-G624T wireless ADSL router is a versatile, high-speed remote router for home
and the small office. With integrated ADSL2/2+ supporting up to 24Mbps download speed,
firewall protection, Quality of Service (QoS), 802.11g wireless LAN and 4 Ethernet switch
ports, this router provides all the functions that a home or small office needs to establish a
secure and high-speed remote link to the outside world.
High-Speed ADSL Connection. The DSL-G624T features the latest ADSL2/ADSL2+
standards, providing speeds of up to 24Mbps downstream and 1Mbps upstream (ADSL2+),
or 12Mbps downstream and 1Mbps upstream (ADSL2). This router auto-senses the
connection type and auto-negotiates the best modulation scheme, using the G.hs
(handshake) protocol.
Ready Wireless LAN & Ethernet Connection for Workgroup. The DSL-G624T provides an
integrated 802.11g WLAN supporting wireless speeds of up to 54Mbps and interoperability
with 802.11b wireless devices on the 2.4GHz frequency band. It also provides four
10/100Mbps Ethernet switch ports for ready workstations connection. These built-in functions
save you the cost and trouble of installing a separate wireless access point and an Ethernet
switch.
Firewall Protection. The router provides firewall security using Stateful Packet Inspection
(SPI) and hacker attack logging for Denial of Service (DoS) attack protection. SPI inspects
the contents of all incoming packet headers before deciding what packets are allowed to
pass through. Access control is provided with packet filtering based on port and
source/destination MAC/IP addresses. With Virtual Server Mapping, the router can be set to
allow separate FTP, Web, and multiple games to share the same Internet-visible IP address
while still protecting your servers and workstations from hackers. You can configure any of
the built-in LAN ports of the router to function as a DMZ port. VPN pass-through is provided
to let mobile users access files and mail from offices to work at home without having to use
complex VPN client software.
Quality of Service Features. The DSL-G624T supports 4 priority queues to enable a group of
home or office users to experience the benefit of smooth network connection of inbound and
outbound data without concern of traffic congestion. This QoS support allows you to enjoy
high ADSL transmission for applications such as VoIP, multimedia and on-line games over
the Internet.
