wireless data transfer rates of up to 300Mbps1. Connect this wireless router to a cable or DSL modem, and the USB adapter to your notebook or desktop
computer. Share your high-speed Internet access with everyone at home or in the office. Create a secure wireless network to share photos, files, music, video,
printers and network storage. With a built-in award-winning QoS Engine, the router provides a better Internet experience by keeping digital phone calls (VoIP)
and online gaming smooth and responsive.
EXTENDED WHOLE HOME COVERAGE
The D-Link Wireless N Starter Kit provides superior Whole Home Coverage while eliminating dead spots. It is designed for use in bigger homes and for users
that demand higher performance networking. Add more D-Link Wireless N notebook and desktop adapters to your other computers and stay connected to your
network from virtually anywhere in your home.
TOTAL NETWORK SECURITY
The D-Link Wireless N Starter Kit supports all of the latest wireless security features to prevent unauthorized access, be it from over the wireless network

wireless devices. In addition, its Wireless Router includes four Ethernet ports ready for you to connect Ethernet-enabled PC, print server and other devices.

Important information regarding your internet subscription
Users who subscribe to limited or “pay as you use” broadband internet access.
In the WAN configuration settings, there is a parameter called Maximum idle timer. This parameter
controls how many seconds of inactivity before dropping connection to the internet. The default
setting is “0” which disables this functionality and the internet will be connected all the time. We
suggest that you should change the Maximum idle timer to “300” (5 minutes) so that the device
will drop the line after 5 minutes of inactivity and keep usage costs down.
Users who subscribe to unlimited broadband internet access.
You can just leave this parameter unchanged or enable Auto-reconnect to be always on line.
Technical Notes:
The Maximum idle timer is only relevant if your ISP is using PPPoE connection.

Quick Install Guide Troubleshooting
1. If I’ve lost my CD what can I do?
The CD contains software drivers and manual which can be obtained from D-Link
(see Technical Support below). Windows 2000, XP, Vista in most cases will
automatically install the correct drivers.
2. If I’ve forgotten my wireless encryption key?
The wireless encryption key is configured at the Wireless Access Point, Router or
DSL Modem Router. If you are unable to obtain your encryption key, the only solution
would be to re-configure your Access Point/Router to use a new encryption key. Please
contact your Wireless Access Point/Router/DSL Modem Router manufacturer.
3. Why can’t I get a wireless connection?
• Check that your DWA-140 is plugged in properly to the USB port or try to plug the
DWA-140 into another USB port if available.
• The LED on the DWA-140 should be lit, otherwise there could be a physical fault
on the USB port or the driver is not installed properly.
• Ensure that the wireless settings on the DWA-140 match the settings on your
Access Point/Router. Please check and confirm your settings for.
Wireless Network Name (SSID)
Wireless Encryption Key
Wireless Security Method (E.g. WEP, WPA2)
To check whether a Wireless connection has been made, in the Windows System
Tray (bottom right). Red means no valid connections have been made.
• Check that your Internet is working fine on existing computers.
• Ensure that you have followed and completed the software installation process,
otherwise, please re-install the software. The LED on the DWA-140 should come
on after software installation.
4. Which Operating Systems does the DWA-140 support?
The DWA-140 support all popular Operating Systems including Microsoft Windows
XP(64/32 bit)/2000/Vista.
Note: If you are unable to connect, see the Troubleshooting chapter of the product
manual in the D-Link DWA-140 RangeBooster N Adapter CD
