DI-304 Installation Guide for LAN Internet
1. Introduction
This document explains how to connect to the Internet using a single user account from an Internet Service Provider. The IP network is a private network and is chosen by the installer. In the example below the private IP network is 192.168.0.xxx. The service provider may either provide you with a static IP address or more often a dynamic IP address, that is to say the IP address is assigned to the router at connection time. A local network IP address still needs to be assigned to the router.
It is assumed the network is already configured and working in terms of network adapters and drivers installed and configured.
Example Setup Configuration
DI-304 IP 192.168.0.1
PC1 IP DHCP
PC2 IP DHCP
PC3 IP DHCP
PC4 IP DHCP
Subnet for all DHCP
devices
Default Gateway 192.168.0.1
(All PC's)
The DI-304 does not have a console port for configuration purposes, you must use your windows browser to configure the DI-304. The router has a default IP address of 192.168.0.1
Ensure you PCs are setup to receive there IP address from a DHCP server. (DI-304 in this case). You will also need to check and ensure your not running any other DHCP server in network see below.
2. Information required from the ISP.
A certain amount of information is required from your ISP. See list below.
IP address (only for static IP address connections)
Username
Password
ISDN Telephone number to dial
DNS (consists of primary domain name controller IP, and name)
3. Router Configuration
After you have setup your PC to receive an IP address from DHCP server, it should have 192.168.0.100 as its IP address. The router will be 192.168.0.1. Use your browser and connect to the DI-304.

ISDN Router With Built-in LAN Switch for SOHO
With D-Link's SOHO router, gaining the power and speed of ISDN for the network has never been simpler and more costefficient.
This router is the complete solution for ISDN. Applications such as Internet/Intranet access, Wide Area Networking,
Electronic Commerce and Remote Network Access are just some of the benefits this device can add to the network.
High-Speed Remote Access
Remote User Support
Network Address Translator (NAT)
The router provides 1 BRI with 2 channels, each
transmitting at 64Kbps. With data compression,
transmission speed can be increased significantly, giving
the SOHO or branch office the ideal high-speed Internet
access.
The router provides remote network access through ISDN.
This allows for 2 users to login simultaneously from 2
different locations.
The router comes with Network Address Translator (NAT)
which allows the network to support a large number of
users from a single shared IP address for cost savings and
enhanced security.
Robust Security Features
4 Built-in 10/100Mbps Switched Ports
Many security features are added to provide a secured
network environment. Features such as passwords for the
system management terminal, PAP, CHAP protocols for
remote access users, and firewall filtering for access control
are provided. ( Up to 8 passwords protect accounts for remote
administrators. RADIUS provides a solution to centralizing
authentication for remote access.)
The router has 4 auto-sensing Ethernet/Fast Ethernet switched
ports built into it to provide SOHO users with an all-in-one
solution for Internet connection. The built-in LAN switch
saves users the time and trouble of purchasing and installing a
separate switch. 4 hubs, workstations and servers can directly
connect to the router.
