1. Accton EN2216 or EN2316 PCMCIA 10 Mbps Ethernet Adapter supports both
the PCMCIA and CardBus slots on notebook and desktop PCs. EN2216 and
EN2316 adapters are type II PC Cards that conform to the PC Card Standard.
Please refer to www.pc-card.com for the related PC Card Standard.
2. The EN2216 or EN2316 PCMCIA 10 Mbps Ethernet Adapter supports 10 Mbps
Ethernet hubs, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet hubs, 10 Mbps Ethernet switches,
and 10/100 Mbps Ethernet switches. The EN2216 or EN2316 PCMCIA Adapter
does not support 100 Mbps-only Ethernet hubs.
3. Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Millennium, and Windows 2000
are plug-and-play systems for PC Cards. The IRQ and I/O space resources
required for the EN2216/EN2316 adapter's operation are allocated by the
Windows system automatically, and the user does not have to do any manual
resource assignment.
4. For Windows NT 4.0, the user has to manually assigned resources. The
user has to make sure the resources assigned are not used by any other
device in the system, or else there will be a resource conflict, and
the EN2216/EN2316 adapter cannot work properly. Please refer to the
document in the \WINNT directory for details.
5. If you are using one of the MS-DOS based drivers, you can install the
Card Services and Socket Services drivers that are provided by the
system vendor. These services provide system wide resource management
for PC Cards. Please refer to the proper document on how to install
the services.
The EN2216/EN2316 drivers will detect the presence of the Card Services
driver. If the Card Services driver presents, the EN2216/2316 drivers
will enable the EN2216/2316 adapter with the help of the Card Services.
The interrupt (IRQ) and I/O space to be used by the EN2216/2316 adapter
will be allocated by the Card Services. Since Card Services driver
allocates resources on a system wide basis, the resources assigned to
the EN2216/EN2316 adapter will not be used by any other device.
If the Card Services driver is not installed, the EN2216/2316 driver
will enable the adapter directly. In this case the user has to assigned
the IRQ and I/O resources manually. The user has to make sure the
resources assigned are not used by any other device in the system.
