Compatibility issue between HP Memories Disc Creator version 1.0 and 2.0.
There is a compatibility issue between HP Memories Disc Creator versions 1.0 and 2.0. The issue occurs when you install the older version on top of the newer version, and then try to use HP Memories Disc Creator. The incompatibility between the two software versions causes Memories Disc Creator to fail. Error messages seen with this issue may include:
"%s - Error. The memories disc creator detected a problem and cannot continue"
"\system32\hal.dll"
"Invalid BOOT.INI file Boot from C:\Windows\"

Select an Office 2003 application from the Available Scan Desinations and click Add. The application name will display in the Front Panel Destinations list.
Click OK.
To test, press the Scan button on the front panel of your HP all-in-one device. Scroll through the Scan menu and verify the application name appears in the display.

Click OK.
To test, press the Scan button on the front panel of your HP all-in-one device. Scroll through the Scan menu and verify the application name appears in the display.

There is a compatibility issue between HP Memories Disc Creator versions 1.0 and 2.0. The issue occurs when you install the older version on top of the newer version, and then try to use HP Memories Disc Creator. The incompatibility between the two software versions causes Memories Disc Creator to fail. Error messages seen with this issue may include:
"%s - Error. The memories disc creator detected a problem and cannot continue"
"\system32\hal.dll"
"Invalid BOOT.INI file Boot from C:\Windows\"

These error conditions may delete certain files. If you see one of these error messages, your PC may not start up properly. Once these errors occur, you may need to perform a full system recovery, which erases all your data on the PC. Prevent this issue from occurring by installing this critical software update even if you don't use or have plans to use Memories Disc. As a standard practice, HP recommends that all PC owners routinely back up and secure their personal data to help prevent data loss.

Description: If problems arise while installing or uninstalling the software, download this removal utility to uninstall the HP All-in-One software before attempting software reinstallation.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
This utility removes only version 4.2.0 of the driver.
Running the removal utility may remove the drivers and software for other HP printing, scanning or digital imaging products.
This utility works in stages. The first time the utility is used, it runs at level one. The next time the utility is used, it runs at level two. There are four levels. The effects of each level are shown in the table below.
Uninstaller levelDescription
1Removes the Windows device discovery (Plug and Play) entries from the Windows registry. After running level 1, connect the USB cable to the all-in-one and let Windows try to discover the device again.
2Performs Level 1 and removes the software drivers. After running level 2, run the all-in-one installer and use the "Add a new device" option to attempt to reinstall the all-in-one again.
3Performs Levels 1 and 2 and removes the HP Photo and Imaging software. You must completely reinstall the all-in-one software after running level 3.
4Performs Levels 1, 2 and 3, and removes HP Software Update. You must completely reinstall the all-in-one software after running level 4.

Installation instructions:
Click the Download button.
When prompted, choose Open or Run to start the download and run the installer.
Follow the onscreen instructions.
