LAN/MODEM PCMCIA PC Card ReadMe File

1. GENERAL
To use the LAN/MODEM PCMCIA PC Card, your system must be
equipped with the following:
* 3.5'' high-density(1.44MB) floppy diskette drive
* a PCMCIA PC Card Standard, Type II or Type III slot
* a hard disk drive
* IBM or Microsoft DOS version 5.0 or higher
* Ethernet network operation system workstation software compatible
with ODI or NDIS drivers
* For use with Card Services based on PCMCIA release 2.1 only:
4kB of system memory address space(the driver needs this space
to map in the PCMCIA configuration registers for the purpose of
performing the interrupt acknowledge routine)
* 32 bytes of I/O space on a 32 byte boundary(LAN)
* 16kB of system memory address space(the LAN contains a 16kB
buffer which is accessed by mapping it into the system's memory
address space using a technique knows as "shared memory")
* 8 bytes of I/O space on an 8 byte boundary(modem). Usually starts
at 0x3F8, 0x2F8, 0x3E8, or 0x2E8
* The Card and Socket Services MUST compliant to new PCMCIA February
1995 PC Card Standard
* The software enclosed in this disk does not yet support the hot
swapping feature

Introduction:

This section describes the procedure to setup the NetWare v3.X , v4.X
workstation driver for LAN/MODEM PCMCIA PC Card.
Location of Driver: \NWCLIENT\PCMDF.COM

Setup Procedures for NetWare 3.11/3.12 Client :
-----------------------------------------------
Before you start with the installation process, make sure that
the adapter is properly installed and configured. Make sure that
your NetWare workstation operating system is properly installed.
1. Copy PCMDF.COM from the LAN/MODEM PCMCIA PC Card Diskette
subdirectory A:\NWCLIENT to your harddisk.
2. Create a batch file, or add to your STARTNET.BAT file the commands
listed above under STARTNET.BAT
3. Edit the NET.CFG file that you copied over. Edit the file per your
requirements (see examples above).
