1. Basics
---------

For Windows 2000 the following drivers are available:

1. CAPI - Driver provides the CAPI 2.0 32 bit interface

2. WAN - Driver supports WAN Networking connections, Internet- and Remote Access connections

3. Virtual COM Port Driver emulates serial ports e.g. COM3 or COM4. So common Fax- and Terminalprograms
could be used. Fax und Modem capabilities are only available using
LineStar PX/PS.
Using a Hermstedt ISDN card and the software drivers which accompany it, you can connect your PC to many
other computers using NT's Remote Access Service (RAS). In Windows 2000 this service is called
"Dial-Up Networking".

2. Installation of the drivers
------------------------------

Before installing the LineStar ISDN Card and drivers, please make sure that at least one interrupt greater
than or equal to 9 is available for PCI cards. You can check these settings in the machine's BIOS setup..
If the machine cannot find a free interrupt for the LineStar ISDN Adapter at bootup, the drivers cannot
start and the Card is not accessible by any Software. It is usually possible to find a free interrupt
greater than 10 for PCI cards.
During installation of this software, changes are made to the Registry, so please log onto the system as
Administrator, or at least as a user with the same access rights as an administrator.

To install the LineStar WAN drivers on to a machine running Windows 2000, please follow these steps.

1. Plug in the Hermstedt ISDN adapter and start Windows 2000.
2. After logon the 'Found New Hardware Wizard' dialog appears.
3. Click 'Next' to continue.
4. Windows 2000 has found a 'Network Controller' which is the representation for a Hermstedt device.
Select 'Search for a suitable driver for my device' and click on 'Next'
5. To tell the system the location of the Hermstedt drivers please select only 'Specify a location'
in the 'Locate Driver Files'-Dialog and then go on with 'Next'
6. Enter the path where the Hermstedt drivers can be found (e.g.: "D:\English\Win2000" if "D" is
your CD-ROM drive) and click on 'OK'.
7. The wizard will search now for the drivers. If the drivers were found the location of the
installation file is displayed in the dialog. Click on 'Next' to install the drivers.
8. The 'Digital signature not found'-Dialog must be confirmed with 'Yes' and the files will be copied
to the hard disc.
9. After the file copy was done, you have to select the D-Channel protocol of your ISDN equipment.
Click on 'Next' if you have selected the right one.
10. In the now following 'ISDN Multisubscriber Dialog' you can enter the numbers to accept incoming calls
with the NDIS driver. If you have a 2-Channel Hermstedt ISDN adapter installed, in the left ListBox of
'ISDN line' the value '1' is listed for the one S0 interface. If you have a 4-channel card installed, the
values '1' and '2' can be found in the list for both S0-interfaces of the adapter.
These numbers are only for the NDIS drivers. How you can configure the numbers to accept call with
COM-Port or CAPI drivers is described later in the Hermstedt ISDN System Manager ISM (chapter 5).
11. Click on 'Next' to continue
12. The installation of the Hermstedt ISDN adapter is now complete and in the dialog the type of the
Hermstedt ISDN adapter is shown. You can finish the setup process by clicking on the 'Finish' button.
13. To configure the COM-Ports and all other settings for the Hermstedt ISDN adapter you can start the
'ISDN System Manager (ISM)' in the Control panel folder.

!!! Important !!!

If you use an old Windows 95 Version (Build 4.0.950 oder 4.0.950 A) and
you do not have the WinSocket 2 services already installed, you have to
start 'Setup_WinSock2.exe' file to setup the WinSocket 2 services.
Without these services the Hermstedt Windows 95 - drivers do not work.

- To configure the Hermstedt ISDN Adapters and services the new Control Panel application
"ISDN System Manager" will be installed with the drivers.
A description of this program can you find in chapter 4 in this document.

2. Installation:
----------------
If whilst installing the card you cancel the dialog box which allows you to
install from a disk provided from another manufacturer, when the machine
boots, the Hermstedt card will appear as an "Other Device" within Device
Manager. If this occurs, the card has not been installed correctly. Please
delete the card by checking the line "other device" in Device Manager and
then click "Remove" and follow the steps laid out the installation
procedure below.
Similarly, if you wish to update from a previous driver, you will have to
follow this "Remove and reboot" procedure. In this case, please mark the
entry under "Network Adapter" and then click "Remove". Before rebooting,
you must also install the Microsoft ISDN Accelerator Pack 1.3 again.

1. Please install the Microsoft ISDN Accelerator Pack 1.3 first
by starting the program "setup.exe" in the ISDN-Accelerator Pack folder
on the Hermstedt ISDN CD (e.g.: "D:\ENGLISH\Win95\MS Accelerator Pack
1.3"). You can press "Yes" or "OK" to all dialog boxes in the setup
program.
2. After the installation of Microsoft ISDN Accelerator Pack, turn off your
computer and install the Hermstedt ISDN adapter into a free PCI slot.

!!! If you need to un-install your Hermstedt PCI ISDN Adapter, please follow
!!! steps 1 - 6 in chapter 3 Un-installating. After finishing this
!!! un-installation continue with step 3 in chapter 2b. Installation.

3. Once the machine has rebooted with the Hermstedt card installed, it will
be detected automatically by Windows 95's plug and play feature. You
will then be asked for a drivers disc from a hardware manufacturer.
4. Insert the Hermstedt ISDN CD, enter the path for Windows 95 drivers
(e.g.: "D:\ENGLISH\Win95" if your CD drive is letter D:) and click "OK".
5. If you see the ISDN Configuration Wizard click "Next" or "Finish". You
need not enter any details this time. The configuration is done via the
Hermstedt ISDN Configuration Panel.
6. The setup program for the NDIS interface will need some files from the
Windows 95 installation CD-ROM. Please insert the CD and enter the
correct path of the installation directory on the CD.

3. Un-installation
------------------
1. From the Start Menu, go to "Settings" and then "Control panel".
2. Double click the "System" icon .
3. Choose the second tab "Device Manager". Then choose either:
4.a New Installation
Double click the first entry "Other components" and tag the value
"PCI Network Controller" and click "Remove".

or

4.b Update
Double click the first entry "Network adapter", tag the value
"Hermstedt PCI ISDN adapter" and click "Remove".

Since this Version 2.0.0.350, the drivers work only on Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 3.
Windows NT 3.51 will no longer be supported. If you need the old version of drivers for
Windows NT 3.51, please contact our support team:

If it is recommended, the installation of the Service Pack 3 will be done automatically
during the setup of the Hermstedt ISDN drivers.
You have to update the Service Pack 3 every time you change the Windows NT configuration
to be sure that the system works correctly.

For Windows NT the following drivers are available:

could be used. Fax und Modem capabilities are only available using
the PanPro Modul for S/XL or using LineStar PS.
When installation of the LineStar ISDN card is complete, the card appears in Device Manager as a
Network Adapter. To access the card's file transfer capabilities, please install the
Leonardo da Windows Software, too.
Using a Hermstedt ISDN card and the software drivers which accompany it, you can connect your PC to many
other computers using NT's Remote Access Service (RAS). In Windows NT 4.0 this service is called
"Dial-Up Networking".
It is also possible to connect to the Internet using TCP/IP. With Windows NT 4.0 it's possible to
combine two or more channels to provide one very fast RAS Port running at 128.000 kbp/s as Windows NT
has Multi-link PPP built into the OS.
