Introduction
You are using an E-Tech ADSL modem router and the software/firmware is a bit too old?
No problem with this step by step firmware update procedure. With this procedure you can easily update your modem router
in a few minutes. Read this manual carefully and don’t stop the procedure when the update is still running.
2.0 Before you can start with the update procedure
2.1 Keep your internet provider setting near you as you will need them to re-install your modem router after the update
procedure.
2.2 Remove the phone line from the modem. (The ADSL LED starts to blink).
2.3 Start your internet Explorer and type the following address in the address bar: http://10.0.0.2


2.4 A login screen appears where you have to fill in the usermane and password of the modem router.
The factory default username is: admin and the password is: epicrouter. If this settings are not correct please try the
username: admin and the password: password. If you have changed the login name and password than you have to
enter your own name and password.
3.0 The update procedure
• Is the background of the configuration page white than go to step 3.1.
• Is the background of the configuration page grey with red and blue bars than go with step 3.2.

3.1 The background of the configuration page is white and you have an index menu on your left side.
3.1.1 Choose in the left index menu for ‘reset to factory default’ and click on submit to reset your modem router to his
original factory settings.
3.1.2 After the modem is rebooted (ADSL LED is blinking) you can refresh the webpage by pressing the F5 button on your
keyboard. If the webpage does not refresh you can re-enter the modem address in the address bar: http://10.0.0.2


Before you can install the new software you’ll have to check the current software (showtime) version.
3.1.3 Click in the status menu on ‘adsl’.
3.1.4 You will see: Showtime Firmware Version: For example ‘3.14’.
3.1.5 Write this software version on a peace of paper as you will need this number during the further update.
3.1.6 Click in the menu on: ‘Code Image Update’.
3.1.7 Click one time on ‘Image Download’.
3.1.8 Click the Browse button to search the firmware files that you have downloaded. There are two firmware files.
Temp.DLF and Firmware.DLF.

3.1.9 Is the current software version less than 3.27 (example: 3.14) than you open the file ‘TEMP.DLF’ and go to step
3.1.10. Is the software version is equal or higher than 3.27 (example 3.36) than go to step 3.1.12.
NOTE: When using the ISDN version of this modem with a firmware version lower than 3.36 you need to
open TEMP.DLF first.
3.1.10 Click on ‘Upload’.
3.1.11 After the upload procedure is finished (File successfully transferred!) you can click again on ‘Code Image Update’
from the menu. If you can’t open this function or the webpage will not appear you can start a new Internet Explorer
page and browse to: http://10.0.0.2/doc/update.htm
If you still can’t enter the configuration page we advise you to shutdown the modem for 30 seconds. After 30
seconds you can retry to open http://10.0.0.2/doc/update.htm


3.1.12 Click the Browse button to search the firmware files you have downloaded.
3.1.13 Open the file ‘Firmware .DLF’.
3.1.14 Click on ‘Upload’.
3.1.15 After a few seconds you will get the message ‘File successfully transferred!’.
3.1.16 After the reboot it is not easy to see if the modem is ready. Therefore we removed the phone line from the modem.
If the power/ready LED’s are on and the ADSL LED is blinking than your modem router is ready.
3.1.17 Close the Internet Explorer.
3.1.18 Open the Internet Explorer again and re-enter the modem address (http://10.0.0.2) in the address bar.

3.1.19 If you have opened the configuration page you will see that the page looks a bit different.
3.1.20 You can re-install your modem router with the settings of your internet provider.
3.1.21 Don’t forget to reconnect the phone line to your modem router!
3.2 The background of the configuration page is grey with red and blue bars.
3.2.1 Click on ‘Advanced Setup’.
3.2.2 Click in the index menu on ‘Admin privilege’.
3.2.3 Click ‘reset to factory default’ and click the submit button to reset the modem router to his original factory settings.
3.2.4 After the modem is rebooted (ADSL LED is blinking) you can refresh the webpage by pressing the F5 button on your
keyboard. If the webpage does not refresh you can re-enter the modem address in the address bar: http://10.0.0.2
