BUSLOGIC WINASPI IMPLEMENTATION UNDER NT:
----------------------------------------
Winaspi is the interface for windows applications to access the devices
attached to a scsi controller. It is basically a set of two DLLs,
WINASPI.DLL and WNASPI32.DLL for 16 bit windows and 32 bit windows
respectively. As NT runs on non-intel platforms also like alpha, the
16 bit winaspi does not make any sense as 16 bit winaspi has a concept
of segment:offset pair for the data buffer and the post routine. See
WINASPI documentation about programming specifications.
Some old winaspi applications do not run okay on NT. 16 Bit WINASPI
applications written for windows 3.1 environment might cause some
problems as some of windows 3.1 apis are not supported on win nt.
One known application to test winaspi (16 bit) is central point
backup. It also occasionally fails and might continue by hitting
of SCSI Explorer uses wnaspi32.dll and is a good way to test.
As microsoft is strongly against using ASPI, this can be given to
customers who need winaspi for some backups etc.
NOTE: These binaries are only for Intel platform.

BusLogic MultiMaster SCSI Host Adapter Driver
For Microsoft Windows 95
Version 5.02
I. Introduction
===============
This README file contains compressed installation instruction and
notes on configuring tunable paramenters for the BusLogic MultiMaster
Windows 95 device driver. For more detailed installation instruction
and other information, please refer to the manual included with the
software package.
II. Installation
================
Windows 95 comes bundled with the BusLogic MultiMaster Miniport driver,
which you can use for installation. Follow the procedure outlined in
the Windows 95 Installation Guide to do your installation.
This installation procedure describes the steps involved in upgrading
that driver to the one on the Software Drivers diskette.
1. At the Win95 Desktop, double-click on My Computer, Control
Panel, and System icons, in that order.
2. Click the Device Manager button. Once in the Device Manager,
select SCSI Controller, then BusLogic MultiMaster SCSI Host
Adapter.
3. Insert the Software Drivers diskette into drive A:, highlight
BusLogic MultiMaster SCSI Host Adapter, and click on Properties,
Driver, Change Driver, and Have Disk.
4. Enter "A:\WIN95" at the target source prompt and continue with
the driver update.
5. Exit out of the System program and reboot Win95. Upgrade
to the new MultiMaster driver is complete.
III. Configuring Tunable Parameters
=====================================
The following tunable (user-configurable) parameters are supported:
MaxQueueTags - Parameter to control the maximum queue tag
depth on tagged queuing devices attached to
a given adapter. The driver defaults to a
tag queue depth of 8. Valid values are 1 to 60.
To modify a tunable parameter under Windows 95, invoke the Windows 95
Device Manager as follows:
1. From the Control Panel, choose Settings, then click on the System
icon.
2. Click on the Device Manager button.
3. Click on SCSI Controllers.
4. Click on BusLogic MultiMaster SCSI Host Adapters.
5. Click on the Settings button.
6. At the Adapter Settings prompt, type in the tunable parameter
(multiple parameters must be separated by a semicolon).

NT 3.5, NT 3.51 and NT 4.0 include MultiMaster support on the distribution
CD-ROM. The following steps are needed only if you cannot install with
the built in driver.
1. Copy four files - Buslogic.SYS, Buslogic.TAG, OEMSETUP.INF, and
TXTSETUP.OEM to create a BusLogic Windows NT MultiMaster diskette.
2. Boot from the Windows NT setup boot diskette and insert setup
disk #2 when prompted.
3. Choose CUSTOM Setup (not Express Setup).
4. You may then choose to bypass Mass Storage detection (not
mandatory but quicker).
5. When prompted, choose S to specify additional device.
6. Choose "Other (Requires disk provided by a hardware manufacturer)"
option.
7. Insert the BusLogic MultiMaster Device Drivers diskette into
drive A:.
8. Select "Buslogic MultiMaster PCI SCSI Host Adapter".
9. The system will load the MultiMaster device driver and indicate
that it has recognized a MultiMaster PCI SCSI Host Adapter in your
computer. Press enter to continue with the rest of Windows NT 3.5x
installation.
III. Upgrading an existing system
================================
NT 3.5, NT 3.51 and NT 4.0 include MultiMaster support on the distribution
CD-ROM. The following steps are needed only if you have a problem with
the built in driver.
This procedure does is a very wordy way of getting Buslogic.sys to
(Boot device):\WINNT35\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS for NT 3.51 or
(Boot device):\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS for NT 4.0
Making a backup of the Original buslogic.sys would be the safest thing
to do since this procedure over writes the original file.
