Observations
Source code has been included with the kernel source since kernel 2.0.32; you will find our support in the source directory on the CD.Here are some packages to make installation a little easier for some distributions Caldera OpenLinux 2.2 Installation Proceedures
This readme.txt file outlines the installation proceedure needed to install
Caldera 2.2 on a system using an Initio SCSI adapter. You will be required
to create a floppy disk from the files included in this package. Please format
a blank floppy with your current operating system (it does not matter which
OS) then go to the command prompt and switch to the directory that you unzipped
this package to. You should see three files initio.img, fcopy.exe and readme.txt.
Put the formatted floppy in the drive and enter the following command:
fcopy /Finitio.img a:
This will create the support disk that is needed for the installation.
Next you want to insert the Caldera boot floppy in the drive and reboot the machine,
as the machine is booting up you will see a LILO prompt at the beginning, you must
press SHIFT and the ? keys at this prompt immeditatly. If you are successful you
will be given a Boot: prompt at which you enter
install insmod=initio (if you have the INI-9XXX series adapter) or
install insmod=A100U2W (if you have the INI-A100U2W adapter)
The kernel will then be loaded from the Caldera boot floppy, as soon as it is done it
will show a new line saying "Booting Kernel" at this prompt you have about 5 seconds
to switch the floppy disks to the Initio floppy that you created earlier. At this point
the installation will continue and you should have no further issues.

Observations
Source code has been included with the kernel source since kernel 2.0.32; you will find our support in the source directory on the CD.Here are some packages to make installation a little easier for some distributions INITIO SCSI Host Bus Adapters, such as inia100u2w and ini9xxx U/UW support the FreeBSD 3.0.
After unzipping the downloaded file, you get install1.img, kernel1.img, fcopy.exe, and this readbsd1.txt file.
You need to make two 3.5" 1.44MB floppy diskettes from the install1.img and the kernel1.img.
Here is the procedure showing how to create the two floppy diskettes and install OS and kernel.
Say, the downloaded file is in the c:\download dir, and you have unzipped it in the same directory.
1. Create the installation diskette:
a. Insert a DOS formatted 3.5" 1.44MB floppy diskette into the drive a:
b. C:\download>fcopy /finstall1.img a: and mark this diskette as Installation Disk
2. Create the kernel diskette:
a. Insert a DOS formatted 3.5" 1.44MB floppy diskette into the drive a:
b. C:\download>fcopy /fkernel1.img a: and mark this diskette as Kernel Disk
3. Install OS:
a. Connect the HDD and CD-ROM to the HBA, and insert the Installation Disk and boot from it
b. Press
c. I pick the beginner level to install and ignore the message "no disk found"
d. Choose the option of "Skip kernel Configuration and Continue Install"
e. I use entire HDD, and (q)uit
f. I select the option "Install the FreeBSD Boot Manager ("Booteasy") and (a)uto defaults for all and (q)uit
g. Install from a CDROM
4. Install kernel:
a. You then see the message, "Congratulations! You now have FreeBSD installed on your system"
b. Hit both
c. Save the old kernel to another file name, say kernel_old, just in case you may need it back later
d. To transfer the new kernel from the Kernel Disk, at the prompt #, key in tar xf /dev/fd0 and then press
e. The prompt # comes in again and then press both
f. Take out the floppy diskette and boot the OS from the HDD, and I select the default
g. That is all

Source code has been included with the kernel source since kernel 2.0.32; you will find our support in the source directory on the CD.Here are some packages to make installation a little easier for some distributions BSD Installation with Initio Controllers
While these procedures are easy, you should thoroughly read and understand
all the steps before you begin.
Copy the 3 source code files to /usr/src/sys/pci
Add one line in /usr/src/sys/conf/files:
/pci/i91u.c
Enter /usr/src/sys/i386/conf, copy the GENERIC configuration file
to the name you want to give your kernel, MY9100 for example.
Add one line in MY9100:
controller iha0
Type the following to compile and install your kernel:
# /usr/sbin/config MY9100
# cd ../../compile/MY9100
# make depend
# make
# make install
The new kernel will be copied to the root directory as /kernel and
the old kernel will be moved to /kernel.old. The new kernel contains
9xxx drivers.

LSI Logic is providing the enclosed Storage Device Management
System (SDMS) 4.0 drivers electronically for your convenience.
SDMS is a trademark of LSI Logic Corporation.
While the files are provided to you, it does not imply technical
support on the part of LSI Logic should any problems arise during
the use or operation of these drivers. For the following reasons,
LSI Logic highly recommends that you contact either the place where
you purchased your system or the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)
of your system's motherboard for technical issues pertaining to SDMS.
Please note the following information:
* LSI Logic works with its OEM customers to correct any
anomalies that may occur within the complex interaction
of the operating system, driver, BIOS and hardware. Your
OEM is most aware of these interactions and would be the
one most capable of diagnosing a problem and, if necessary,
working with LSI Logic to correct it. It is the experience
of LSI Logic that what appears to be a LSI Logic SCSI problem
often is not and is indeed a system or software installation
problem.
* By contacting the OEM for support, you will be assured of
receiving the latest SDMS BIOS and drivers that have been
verified, certified, and licensed by your OEM on that OEM's
hardware platform.

Observations
Source code has been included with the kernel source since kernel 2.0.32; you will find our support in the source directory on the CD.Here are some packages to make installation a little easier for some distributions This is the readme.txt file for the Initio support under
Slackware 7.1.
You will use these instructions to install Slackware on
your system when you have an Initio SCSI adapter.
The boot image contains support for the INIC-940, INIC-950
and INIC-1060 chipsets which are used on the following:
INI-9090U
INI-9100A
INI-9100U
INI-9100UW
INI-9200U
INI-9200UW
INI-9400U
INI-9400UW
INI-9520U
INI-9520UW
INI-A100U2W
So if you have one of the above adapters or an OEM adapter
with one of the above chipsets on it, the following will allow
you to install Slackware 7.1 on your SCSI drive.
OVERVIEW
What you are going to be doing is to create 2 floppy disks, one
called Boot and the other called Root. You will create these disks
from images, the boot image is included with this file the root
image is on the Slackware CD. You will be using a program called
rawrite to create these disks from the images, you will find the
rawrite program on the Slackware CD.
Okay, let's get started. You will want to create a temp directory
on your hard drive to work from. Then copy the initio.s file to
it. Next copy the rawrite.exe file from the Slackware CD in the
/bootdsks.144 directory to the temp dir. Next you will want to
copy the color.gz image file from the Slackware CD in the
/rootdsks directory to the temp directory.

Insert a formatted floppy disk into your floppy drive, run the following
command from the command line:
C:\temp\fcopy /fA100_Sol.img a: <--- for the A100U2W
C:\temp\fcopy /f9100_Sol.img a: <--- for the 9xxx series
NOTE: The 9xxx family includes the INI-9100A, INI-9090U, INI-9100U,
INI-9100UW, INI-9200U/UW, INI-9400U/UW and INI-9520U/UW
** It does NOT include the INI-9100, INI-9100W and INI-9100AS
This will give you a floppy with the Solaris drivers which you will use to
install under Solaris.
To install the drivers under Solaris during the installation of Solaris you
just need to follow the prompts to ADD drivers.
