If the file ends in .img, create the appropriate driver diskette using rawrite (under Linux) or RawWrite for Windows. If the file ends in .iso, create a CD using any CD writing software that can burn an ISO image to cd.
The driver diskette or CD is typically supplied during the installation process. For older Red Hat distributions, start the installation process using 'linux dd' after booting from the installation CD. For SuSE, press F6 when prompted during the boot of the installation CD. Consult the manual for the intended Linux distribution to identify how to utilize a driver diskette or CD.
