Driver Installation
Note! Do not connect your camera to the USB-port yet!
1. Insert the cd-rom into your cd-rom drive. Setup should start and display the installation
screen. (If your cd-rom doesn’t start automatically, run the setup.exe program manually)
2. Choose ‘Install PC Camera driver’ to install the required software. When finished, reboot
your computer.
3. After rebooting, connect the camera to a free USB port. Windows will detect new hardware
and complete the installation. If the hardware wizard comes up, choose to automatically
search for the best driver.
4. It is possible that during installation a warning is shown about the driver signing. Since the
driver is currently not signed, you must select ‘continue anyway’ to install the driver.
Testing your camera
After the installation has completed, you can test the camera using the included utility software.
Click ‘Start –> All Programs –> AV301P USB Pc Camera’ -> ‘VFW or WDM Capture’.
Under the ‘Devices’ menu select the ‘USB PC Camera’.
It is also possible to use the ‘emAMCAP’ shortcut on your desktop to test the camera. Start the
program and if needed, select the camera under the ‘devices’ pulldown menu. AMCAP will then
show a live image from the webcam in the window.
Troubleshooting
If your camera does not appear to work, cannot be found by the emAMCAP software, or the
message ‘this graph cannot preview’ appears, please check the following:
Windows XP
- In the ‘My Computer’ screen, the camera should be shown under ‘Imaging – Scanners and
camera’s’.
- Click ‘Start - Control Panel – System’ – ‘Hardware’ - ‘Device Manager’ the camera should be
shown under the category ‘Imaging devices’.
If this is not the case, check for a device marked with a question or exclamation mark. right-click
this device, and select ‘uninstall’. Unplug the camera, and plug it back in. Windows should
detect new hardware. Choose to ‘automatically search for the best driver’ to reinstall the drivers.
After re-installation the camera should appear in the correct category.
Windows 98SE/ME
- These Windows versions do not show the camera in the ‘My Computer’ screen.
- Click ‘Start – Settings - Control Panel – System’ , select tab ‘Device Manager’.
- The camera should be shown under ‘Imaging Devices’.
If this is not the case, check for a device marked with a question or exclamation mark. Select the
device by clicking on it, then click the button ‘Remove’ and wait until the device is no longer
shown in the device manager. Unplug the camera, and plug it back in. Windows should detect
new hardware. Choose to ‘automatically search for the best driver’. After re-installation the
camera should appear in the correct category.
In all Windows versions, there should be a device category ‘USB Controllers’ shown in the
device manager. This indicates a working USB controller. If you do not see this category, there
might be a problem with your USB controller, and Windows will not recognize any devices
connected to it.
