Troubleshooting
1. The CD-ROM does not start automatically ?
You can start the CD-ROM manually. Go to Start, Run and enter ‘X:\autorun.exe’. If your
CD or DVD-ROM player has a different drive letter, use this drive letter instead of X in this
example.
2. The image is not in focus ?
Gently turn the lens on the front of the camera, to obtain maximum focus.
3. Certain colors do not appear 100% correctly when viewed through the camera ?
The camera uses an infrared lens. This type of lens is highly sensitive to light. Surfaces
that absorb light, like fleece-clothing, or certain organic materials may not be shown in
100% correct colors.
Note: If you are only using the camera in daylight conditions, please contact your reseller
to purchase a separate daylight-lens. (Which will not work in the dark.)
4. The 6 lights on the front of the camera never light up, is something wrong ?
These are infrared led’s, that emit light which is mostly invisible to the human eye. If there is
not enough ambient light, the camera will turn on these led’s, to still obtain an image, even
in the dark. (The range of these led’s is up to 3 meters.)
5. The picture of the camera appears ‘washed out’ or overexposed, how do i fix this ?
Change the ‘Background Light’ settings in the webpage, menu ‘Image Control’.
Select ‘Special’ for Daylight / Sunny conditions, or Normal’ for indoor situations.
6. Video from the camera appears to contain horizontal running lines. What’s the cause ?
This is caused by the light of TL lighting, which is not running ‘in synch’ with the camera’s
exposure rate. This can be solved by adjusting the option ‘Light Frequency’ in the menu
‘Image Control’. Select the same frequency as your TL lighting. (Europe: 60Hz, USA 50Hz.)
7. How do i restore the camera to factory defaults ?
Turn the camera on, and wait until the small green light on the front is lit. Now, using a pen
or paperclip, keep the default button pressed down on the camera, until the green light goes
off. The camera is now restarting, with defaults restored.
8. Does my camera work behind a firewall or router ?
The camera can be reached from the internet, if you forward the correct port (80) to the
internal ip address of the camera. Check your router’s manual for exact details.
9. I cannot open the webpage of the camera in my internet browser. What do i do ?
Check if you are using the correct cables. When using wireless, check if the SSID and KEY
are correct. You can try to ping the camera from a dos-box. Click Start, Run and enter ‘ping
192.168.1.100’ and press enter. (enter the ip you assigned to the camera.) If the camera is
active, you should receive 4 replies from it. If not, please use the IP Detect tool, to check
the ip address of the camera and set it correctly.
10. I get no video in the Internet-Explorer web browser. How do i solve this ?
Click ‘Tools’ in the explorer-bar, then ‘Internet Options’. Select the tab ‘Security’, then
‘Custom level’. Enable ActiveX and click ok. After restarting the browser (close all open
explorers.) the video should work.
Installing the camera (Wired)
Before you can use the camera, it needs to be configured for your network.
1. Set switch 1, located on the side of the camera, to the ‘PC’ position.
2. Set switch 2, located on the side of the camera, to the ‘RJ45’ position.
3. Connect the camera with a cable to your network, for instance your switch or router.
(if needed, you can connect the camera directly to your computer, as long as your Ethernet
card has a manually configured static IP address).
4. Insert the provided CD-ROM in to your CD-ROM or DVD drive.
5. The installation wizard will start automatically. (See ‘Troubleshooting’ hint 1 if it does not.)
6. Click the ‘IP Auto detect’ tool (only for Windows 2000/XP) to install the tool.
7. Run the ‘IP Auto detect’ tool from your desktop.
8. Select your network card and click the 'Auto Detect' button.
Any detected cameras will appear in the list as shown below.
Note: Your camera has two IP addresses. One for wireless and one for use with a cable. The IP
Detect tool only lets you the cabled IP address. The tool does not work for wireless. Both
addresses can be changed using the webpage after the first setup and can be identical.
9. Select your camera by double clicking on it.
10. 'Settings' shows the (wired) IP address of your camera.
Change this IP address to put the camera in the range of your network.
Example: Your router's IP address is 10.0.0.2, change the camera's IP to 10.0.0.10.
Example: Your router's IP address is 172.0.0.1, change the camera's IP to 172.0.0.100.
'Gateway' needs to be the IP address of your router.
11. Click 'Setup' to assign the new IP address to the camera.
12. Click 'Connect' to open the webpage of your camera.
13. Log in with username root and password admin.
14. Your camera is now ready to be used in a wired network.
15. To use motion detection or record video on your computer, install the DivX codec and
Walkguard software from the cd-rom.
