Using PTP (PictBridge) to send image data to camera memory from a computer running the Vista operating system can result in the image data being corrupted so it does not display properly. To avoid this, download the PTP (PictBridge) for Vista software and install it on your computer. The PTP(PictBridge) for Vista software will make it impossible for you to send image data from your computer to the camera using PTP (PictBridge).

Important!
• If you have multiple CASIO digital cameras that are different models, you will need to install the different software for each model.
• If your computer has multiple slots or if you are connecting the camera to a computer via a USB hub, you will need to install the software for each route.
• Regardless of whether or not this software is installed, you still can transfer images between the camera and your computer using Mass Storage.
• Regardless of whether or not this software is installed, you still can transfer images from the camera to your computer using PTP (PictBridge).
Installation Precautions and Procedure
The following explains installation by installing the 32-bit version on the EX-Z1000 camera.
Important!
• Never try to install this software on any computer that is not running the Windows Vista operating system.
1. On the camera, select "Set Up", "USB", and then "PTP (PictBridge).
2. Use the USB cable to connect the camera to your computer, and then press the cradle's USB button (or the camera's power button, depending on your camera model) to turn on the camera.
3. Double-click the compressed file that you downloaded (32_wpdmtphw.exe), which will extract it.
On the dialog box that appears, specify the folder to which you want to extract the files, and then click [OK].
Extracting the file will first create a folder named 32_wpdtphw inside the folder you specified (Figure 1) and then will create a file named wpdmtphw.inf (Figure 2) inside it.

4. On the "Start" menu, select"Control Panel" (Figure 3).

5. Select "System and Maintenance" (Figure 4) and then "Device Manager" (Figure 5).

6. On the "User Account Control" dialog box that appears, select "Continue".
7. Click "Portable Device" (Figure 6), select the camera connected via the USB cable (EX-Z1000), and then right-click with your mouse to display the shortcut menu.

8. Select "Update Driver Software..." (Figure 7).

9. On the "How do you want to search for driver software?" dialog box that appears, select "Browse my computer for driver software" (Figure 8).

10. On the "Browse for driver software on your computer" dialog box that appears, select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" (Figure 9).

11. On the "Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware." dialog box that appears, select the "Show compatible hardware" check box and then select "Have Disk..." (Figure 10).

12. On the "Install From Disk" dialog box that appears (Figure 11), click [Browse...].

13. Select "wpdmtphw.inf" (Figure 12). After making sure that the correct name is displayed in "File name", click "Open".

14. After confirming that the correct path to the wpdmtphw.inf file is shown in the "Copy manufacturer's files from:" box of the "Install From Disk" dialog box (Figure 13), click "OK".

15. On the "Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware." dialog box (Figure 14) that appears, click "Next".

16. If the "Windows Security" dialog box appears during the installation, select "Install this driver software anyway" (Figure 15).

17. The message "Windows has successfully updated your driver software" (Figure 16) indicates that installation is complete. Click "Close".

18. On the camera, select PTP (PictBridge) for the USB mode, and try to transfer image data from your computer to the camera to see if it works properly.

To install the update software on your camera
• Note that installation of the update software cannot be undone. Once you install the update software, there is no way to restore your camera to its original firmware version.
• If firmware update installation is interrupted due to low battery power, your camera will no longer be able to operate. Be sure to make sure the camera's battery is fully charged before starting the firmware update installation procedure.
• When using battery power for installation, a safety feature makes it impossible to perform installation when battery power is low. Make sure the camera's battery is fully charged when using battery power for installation.
• After copying the EX-S600D.BIN software to camera built-in memory or memory card, disconnect the camera from the USB cradle before installing the firmware onto the camera. This firmware update cannot be installed while the USB cable is plugged into the camera.
1) Extract the file you downloaded.
Windows Users
* Double-click the file you downloaded, and it will self-extract. EX-S600D_101.exe extracts to EX-S600D.BIN.
Macintosh Users
* Use Stuffit Expander or some other similar application to extract the file you downloaded. EX-S600D_101.sit extracts to EX-S600D.BIN.
2) Place the camera onto its USB cable and establish a USB connection with your computer.
3) Copy the extracted file (EX-S600D.BIN) to the root directory (the top directory on the drive) in camera built-in memory or on a memory card.

4) Remove the camera from its USB cradle.
5) On your camera, hold down the [MENU] button (Figure 1) as you press the [POWER] button (Figure 2) to turn on the camera. Keep the [MENU] button depressed until the message "PROGRAM UPDATE" (Figure 3) appears on the monitor screen.

6) On the "PROGRAM UPDATE" screen, move the highlighting from [NO] to [YES] by pressing (Figure 4). Next, press the [SET] button (Figure 5).

7) This starts installation of the update firmware, which is indicated by the message "NOW LOADING" on the camera monitor screen. The message "COMPLETE" (Figure 6) appears when installation is complete.

8) After installation is complete, turn off the camera.
9) Check if the firmware version has been updated.
* If you copied the firmware update file (EX-S600D.BIN) directly into camera memory, delete the copied file from camera memory. Next, hold down the camera's [MENU]button as you press the [POWER] button to turn on the camera. Keep [MENU]depressed until the version of your camera's firmware appears on the monitor screen. If "Ver.1.01" appears, it means that firmware update installation was successful.
* If you copied the firmware update file (EX-S600D.BIN) to a memory card, remove the memory card from the camera. Next, hold down the camera's [MENU] button as you press the [POWER] button to turn on the camera. Keep [MENU] depressed until the version of your camera's firmware appears on the monitor screen. If "Ver.1.01" appears, it means that firmware update installation was successful.
Important!
* Before installing the firmware update, be sure you back up the data in camera memory to a memory card or your computer's hard disk.
* Installing the update software can cause changes in the camera's image memory size, camera startup time, recording time, recording interval, user settings, etc.
* If firmware update installation is interrupted due to low battery power, your camera will no longer be able to operate. Be sure to load a fresh set of new batteries into the camera before starting the firmware update installation procedure.
* If you are unable to restart your camera after installing the update software, contact your local Authorized Service Center of Casio distributor or Casio Techno Technical Center. Tell them you need assistance because your camera will not restart after installing EX-S600D firmware.
