Observations
1. Unpack the EF2915
Unpacking requires two people since the EF2915 is heavy and tightly packaged in a protective shipping frame. First locate
and remove the Accessory Kit and the RK12 Kit cartons. With two people lift the EF2915 simultaneously from front and rear
out of the shipping carton.
The Accessory Kit contains the following items:
• DataDirect Networks setup CD with Setup Utilities
• AC Power Cord, IEC-320/NEMA, 125 VAC (2 ea.)
• Warranty Card
• Static Wrist Strap
The RK12 Kit contains:
• Left and right front mounting rails
• Left and right rear mounting rails
2. Install in Cabinet
Install the EF2915 into a cabinet using the RK12 Kit. This assembly requires two people.
1. Assemble the Left mounting rail assembly;
attach the Left Front rail (marked “Left”) to
the Left Rear rail (marked “Left”) using three
#8-32 pan head screws and three #8 nuts.
Repeat for the Right mounting rail assembly
using the Right Front rail (marked “Right”)
and Right Rear rail (marked “Right”).
2. Using four #8-32 pan head screws and five
#8 cage nuts, slide three cage nuts into the
three square holes on the bracket and slide
two cage nuts on the cabinet’s rear mounting
holes. Install the Left mounting rail
assembly to the front and rear of the cabinet’s
holes; make sure the screws are only
installed in the top and bottom of the front
bracket. Repeat for the Right mounting rail
assembly..
3. Align and support the EF2915 chassis on the
horizontal flanges of the Left and Right
mounting rails. Push the EF2915 chassis into the cabinet until it is flush with the front of the cabinet.
4. Secure the front of the EF2915 chassis with one black #8-32 flat head screw per side in the center hole
5. The guide pins on the front of the rails fit into holes in the cabinet. Bushings are supplied to accomodate oversized
holes.
3. Connect Power and UPS
Providing power to the EF2915 from a UPS device protects data
and ensures higher data availability. When connecting the
EF2915 to a UPS device, verify that the UPS device provides
the correct input voltage and is configured to send SNMP traps
to the EF2915.
1. Connect the Management Ethernet cable from the UPS
device to a hub/switch/router.
2. Verify that the EF2915 and the UPS are on the same subnet.
3. Connect the UPS power cord to main power.
4. Connect the power cord from the Left (as viewed from the rear) EF2915 power supply to the UPS device.
5. Connect the power for the other EF2915 power supply to main power
Charge the UPS battery to a minimal level before connecting the EF2915 power cord. The Ef2915 supports the APC Smart
UPS and the APC UPS Management card.
