Firmware installation and operation:
Before installation:
1. Make sure your MP3 device has never installed the software that is before
the“SIGMATEL”version. If it does, please UNINSTALL it.
2. Unzip this software, press SETUP to start installation.
3. If you are not preparing to use the “update” function in this software, the following steps
could be passed up.
Start installation and operation:
1. Right way to connect your device to your PC.
2. First, turn off the MP3 player?? Keep press and hold [Play] button ?? Then shook up
the USB cable ??click [Start \ Programs \ SigmaTel MSCN Audio Player \ MSCN
Firmware Download], screen will pop up a dialog window and the progress bar appears.
(Hold [Play] button until the progress bar appears and starts moving.) ?? Pop up
UPDATE window?? click [START] key to update new software.
3. After successfully completing the UPDATE, close all the dialogue windows ?? unplug
the device??re-plug the device?? PC will then, recognizes new device.
4. If you followed above procedures, but still failed to update your firmware, please take
out the battery?? plug in to the computer??select [My Computer] and right click Install
Manager under Content. Click Play for about 10 sec and you will see “Play Recovery
device class”. Click on “+”and then, double click on “Player Recovery device.” Check
the driver program—stmp3rec.inf (you can find this program at C:\ PROGRAM
FILES\SIGMATEL\MSCN). Users can adopt the renew driver program locates at the
right side of the “Player Recovery device class”page). For Floopy drive installation
user, go to C:\PROGRAM FILES\SIGMATEL\MSCN).
5. After above operation, click “MSCN Firmware Download”?? “Start”?? The setup is
completed.
6. If the device still can’t function normally, check the MP3 device, USB connection, power,
or repeat the procedures described above.
