Windows 2000 Pro Update
for HP ScanJet Scanners 4200c Series
This software update is for users who have upgraded from Windows 98 or 98SE to Windows 2000 Pro. This software updates the 4200c series HP scanner software for use with Windows 2000 Pro upgrade only. The scanner must be plugged in and powered on before running the update. You may discover that the scanner buttons do not work after installing the patch. Please refer to the Technical Support Document "Buttons do not Work After Upgrading to Windows 2000" to correct the problem.

Installation Instructions:
Choose the file you want to download to your system. With your mouse, click on the file. You will now be prompted to select the folder (subdirectory) where the download will be placed on your hard disk. (Example: If you wanted to download to your C:\TEMP you would select that folder from the list of folders in the download "Save As" screen.)
Now open the C:\Temp folder (if that was your selected folder), and double-click on the file you downloaded. This file will decompress into a default folder c:\sj450w2k, or any folder of your choice. You will find the SETUP.EXE file in the c:\sj450w2k folder, or the folder that you chose. Double-click the SETUP.EXE file to activate the software installation.

During installation, you may see a message about "Digital Signature Not Found". You must select "Continue" for the software to install correctly.
Connect the scanner only after you have finished installing the Scanning Software.

ScanJet 4200C Copy Utility Upgrade for USB Printers
This file updates the HP Copy Utility software which shipped with the HP ScanJet 4200C series of scanners. It fixes a problem which causes the HP Copy Utility to not print when used with certain USB printers. When using the HP Copy Utility, the scanner completes its scan, but nothing gets sent to the printer and no error is reported. This update corrects that problem.

This update replaces the previous version of sj445xx.exe, which did not work properly on some Windows 2000 systems or on Windows XP systems. Choose the file you want to download to your system. With your mouse, click on the file. In the 'save as' dialogue, you will be prompted to select the folder (subdirectory) where you want the file downloaded. Once the file is downloaded, click on the file, the software will decompress and then install automatically.

This update will add Word 2003 and PowerPoint 2003* as selections in the 'send to' or 'destinations' list in HP's PrecisionScan LT, PrecisionScan, or PrecisionScan Pro scanning software.
