Theprinter’sMicroWeavefeatureisaspecialprintingmodeyoucanusetoenhanceyourprintedoutput.When
MicroWeaveison,theprinterselectivelyappliesinkinanintricatepatterntoeliminatethepossibilityofbanding(light,horizontallineswhichmaranimage)thatcansometimesoccurinnormalmode.
HighSpeedModeforFastPrinting
HighSpeedmodeincreasestheprintspeed.Whenitison,theprinterprintsbidirectionally;thatis,itprintsalinefromrighttoleftandthenextlinefromlefttoright.WhenHighSpeedmodeisoff,alllinesareprintedinthesamedirection.
PrintingisfasterwithHighSpeedmodeon.However,theverticalalignmentmaynotbeasprecise.Forthisreason,turnoffHighSpeedmodewhenyouneedtoimproveprintquality.
EnergyStarCompliance
AsanEnergyStarPartner,EPSONhasdeterminedthatthisproductmeetstheEnergyStarguidelinesforenergyefficiency.

Ifyouwanttocleantheprinter,followthesesteps:1. Turnofftheprinteranddisconnectanycablesconnectedtoit.Besuretokeeptheprintercoverclosedasyoucleanit.
2. Removeanypaperorothermediafromthesheetfeeder.
3. Carefullycleanawayloosedustanddirtwithasoftbrush.
4. Cleantheexterioroftheprinterwithasoftclothdampenedwithmilddetergent.
5. Tocleaninkoutoftheprinter’sinterior,wipeitgentlywithadampcloth.c
Caution:Neverusealcoholorthinnertocleantheprinter;thesechemicalscandamagethecomponentsandtheprintercase.

Ifyouneedtotransportyourprinter,carefullyrepackitintheoriginalboxandpackingmaterialsasfollows:1. Turnofftheprinter,ifyouhavenotalreadydoneso.
2. Opentheprintercoverandmakesurethattheprintheadislockedinthefarrightposition.Ifitisn’t,turnontheprinter,waitabout10seconds,andturnitoff.c
Caution:Donotremovetheinkcartridgeswhentransportingtheprinter.Transportingtheprinterwithoutthecartridgesinstalledcandamagetheprinter.
3. Useastrongadhesivetapetosecuretheprintheadtothesideoftheprinter.
4. Unplugthepowercordfromtheelectricaloutlet.
5. Disconnecttheinterfacecablefromtheprinter.
6. Removeanypaperfromthesheetfeederandremovethepapersupport.
7. Pushintheoutputtrayextensionandrotatetheoutputtrayuntilitisbeneaththeprinter.
8. Attachtheprotectivematerialstotheprinter.SeetheNotice
Sheetthatwaspackedwiththeprinter.
9. Repacktheprinterandattachmentsintheoriginalbox.
Besuretokeeptheprinterflatasyoutransportit.Ifyou noticeproblemswiththeprintedimageaftertransportingtheprinter,cleantheprintheadasdescribedonpage32.Iftheprintedimageismisaligned,calibratetheprinterasdescribedinthenextsection.

Yourprinterhasbeencalibratedatthefactorysothatverticallinesinyourtextandgraphicsareproperlyaligned.Ifyounoticemisalignedimagesinprintouts,however,youcancalibratetheprinterwiththeBiDCalibrationUtility.Youmayneedtodothisaftermovingtheprintertoanewlocation,forexample.
YoucancopytheBiDCalibrationUtilityfromtheWindowsprinterdriverdiskettetoyourharddisk,orrunitfromthediskettewhenneeded.Youcalibratetheprintertwice—oncewiththemonochromeprintheadinstalledandoncewiththecolorprintheadinstalled.Followthesesteps:1. IfyoudidnotinstalltheBiDCalibrationUtilityonyourharddisk,insertthedriverdisketteinyourcomputer’sdiskettedrive.
2. MakesureWindowsisrunning.
3. TostarttheBiDCalibrationUtilityusingWindows3.1
ProgramManager,choose RunfromtheFilemenu.The
Rundialogboxappears.
TostartitusingWindows95,click Start;thenchoose Run.
4. IntheCommandLinebox(Windows3.1)ortheOpenfield
(Windows95)typethedriveanddirectorynamewheretheutilityislocated.Forexample,type A:CALIBRAT(or
