Overview
========
The Intel PRO/DSL 2100 Modem provides high-speed connections to the
Internet. To connect to the Internet with your DSL modem, you'll need
a DSL account with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and DSL
service from your telephone company.
Available Versions
==================
The PRO/DSL 2100 Modem supports the following software configurations:
- Operating system: Windows* 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000
- Protocol: Point-to-Point (PPP) or Bridged Ethernet (RFC1483)
NOTE: This Readme file refers only to the Windows 2000 version of the
Intel PRO/DSL 2100 Modem.
System Requirements

- 20 MB available disk space
- 16MB RAM minimum, 32MB RAM recommended
- Pentium(R) processor 166 MHz performance level or better
- Available PCI slot
- CDROM drive
- Mouse
- Netscape Navigator 3.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or later
Installation - Windows 2000
===========================
1483 (Bridged Ethernet) driver:
1. Save the Intel(R) PRO/DSL 2100 Modem software to your hard drive.
2. Install the Intel PRO/DSL 2100 Modem in an available PCI slot
3. Power up the system.
4. Windows 2000 will automatically detect the new device, and will
request the required drivers.
5. When asked for drivers, browse to the Intel software you stored
on your hard drive, and point to the LAN directory. Select
requested file.
6. After the driver is installed, reboot your system.
7. Launch your Web browser to check your connection status.
8. Right-click on My Network Places and select the Properties tab.
9. Open Local Area Connection.
10. Select TCP/IP, and click Properties.
11. Configure your IP address for either dynamic (DHCP) or static
addressing. Your ISP can provide you with the
numbers you will need.

Installation
============
Windows NT 4.0 users: do not use Setup. Refer to the NT4README.WRI file in the
NT folder on the Intel CD.
Windows 95/98 users:
Refer to the FAQ/Read Me First sheet and the Quick Installation Guide for information
about installing your PRO/DSL 2100 Modem.
Remember to install microfilters on all phone lines in your house except for the
phone cables attached to the modem.
After installation, the PRO/DSL 2100 program group appears on your desktop's
Start menu.

STEP 1
Download the Intel PRO/DSL 2100 Windows XP software.
STEP 2
Save the download.exe file to your PC's hard disk. In the example below, the file was saved to the "C:/TEMP" subdirectory.
NOTE: Make sure you note the location of the file you saved.
Installing your Intel PRO/DSL 2100 modem software
STEP 1
After the modem has been installed and the computer has been turned on for the first time, the following screen will appear. Select CANCEL.
STEP 2
Right click on the Start button and choose EXPLORE. Then, enter the C:/TEMP directory the download.exe file was saved in.
STEP 3
Double click on the download.exe file you saved in the C:/TEMP directory.
STEP 4
Select MIGRATE DSL.
STEP 5
Select YES.
STEP 6
Select CONTINUE ANYWAY.
STEP 7
Select NEXT to continue.
STEP 8
Select RFC 1483 BRIDGED ETHERNET. Then, select NEXT.
STEP 9
Select CONTINUE ANYWAY.
STEP 10
Select FINISH.
Congratulations! You have finished upgrading your modem for Windows XP support. Please continue with the following instructions after your PC reboots.
Connecting to the Internet
STEP 1
Double click on the Intel DSL modem icon on your desktop.
STEP 2
Select the CONNECT button on the bottom of the screen print below to connect to the Internet. If the button says, DISCONNECT you are already connected to the Internet and ready to browse.
STEP 3
Check your System tray for the connection icon. If your connection icon is green, you are connected to the Internet.
