HAM driver release 3.16 and ICP utilities for NetWare* 4.2, 5.1 (until SP7), 6.0 (until SP4) and 6.5 (until SP3), selfextracting archive for DOS* and Windows* . Novell* NetWare* 6.x provides an older SRCRX.HAM, this driver does not support ICP controllers GDT8x24RZ, GDT8586RZ and newer types with PCI Device ID 0x300. Therefore it is necessary to use the ICP driver provided here.

New install of NetWare 4.2, 5.0, 5.1 and 6.0
============================================
IMPORTANT: If you plan to install the OS to a RAID volume, you must first
configure the RAID volume through the XROM version of ICP RAID
Console. At system boot time, press Ctrl-G when prompted to invoke
the XROM version of ICP RAID Console.

New install of NetWare 4.20 with the SRCRX.HAM driver:
------------------------------------------------------
- create a driver diskette from the RAID Software Suite CDROM either from a
Windows workstation or by booting to the RAID Software Suite CDROM
- start the OS installation from the NetWare CD (NetWare 4.x CDs are NOT
bootable so you'll already need to have a bootable DOS partition installed on
your target hard drive and have the appropriate DOS driver for your CDROM)
- at the driver summary menu select modify drivers
- insert the driver diskette into drive A:
- press ENTER on the storage driver list
- press INS in the storage controller driver menu
- press F3 and change the path to A:\DRIVERS\4XX then press ENTER
- select the SRCRX.HAM driver
- continue the NetWare installation as normal by following the screen prompts
New install of NetWare 5.0 with the SRCRX.HAM driver:
------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT: The SRCRX.HAM driver depends on a later version of the NWPA.NLM
than was shipped on the NetWare 5.0 CD. Without the NWPA.NLM
update, the SRCRX.HAM driver will fail to load. The following
procedure will allow you to upgrade the NWPA.NLM on the fly during
OS installation.

- create a driver diskette from the RAID Software Suite CDROM either from a
Windows workstation or by booting to the RAID Software Suite CDROM
- start the OS installation from the NetWare bootable CD
- the NetWare Install will eventually load a "Welcome" screen asking you to
verify the startup directory (C:\NWSERVER)
- press Alt+F10 to exit the installation
- at the NetWare console prompt, type "down" and press ENTER (the installation
exits to the boot drive's DOS prompt)
- insert the driver diskette into the A: drive
- if your NetWare startup directory is drive C:, then run
A:\INSTALL\NWUPDATE.BAT, otherwise create a subdirectory named NWUPDATE at
the root of your boot drive and copy all the files from A:\DRIVERS\5XX to
the NWUPDATE subdirectory
- leave the NetWare 5.0 bootable CD in place, but remove the driver diskette
from drive A:
- reboot the server
- after rebooting the server, the NetWare 5.0 Install will start again
- right after the Accept the License Agreement screen, select the "Continue
with Existing Partition" option
- you may encounter a warning dialog box if you chose to install a "New
Server" that says, "Warning: A previously installed version of NetWare was
detected in C:\NWSERVER. If you choose to install a new server, all data on
the existing server will be lost. "
- do as the message suggests and press ENTER
- continue the NetWare installation as normal by following the screen prompts

I.) Important information - please read before using/installing ISM
1. General Cautions and Notes

1.1 Critical

- Use icpcon, ICP Storage Manager or ICP RAID Navigator separately!
Do NOT run multiple configuration tools in parallel!
Doing so may cause unpredictable results.

- Do not use/install parallel to Adaptec Storage Manager (ASM).
If Adaptec controllers are used in the same system only use icpcon
and do not install ISM on this system!
Doing so may cause unpredictable results.

- Do not use the aacli tool with RAIDYNE based ICP RAID controllers
(e.g. GDT8500RZ, GDT85x6RZ, GDT8x14RZ, GDT8x24RZ, GDT8x22RZ).
Doing so may cause unpredictable results.

Windows Server 2003 Driver
==========================

For 64-bit OS support the txtsetup.oem file needs to be changed.
for EM64T / AMD64 use the file txtsetup_64.oem
for IA64 use the file txtsetup_ia64.oem
Simply rename the corresponding file to txtsetup.oem
(txtsetup_32.oem is the original txtsetup.oem for standard 32-bit Windows Server 2003)

Note 1: RAID Service does report the correct event ID in the event log on 64-bit OS.
Use instead the event log on the controller in Save Information.
RAID Service is not installed automatically with Install Shield on IA64 systems.
However it can be installed manually.

Note 2: SNMP support is not available on 64-bit Windows Server 2003.

Note 3: XROM configuration tool (Ctrl+G) does not work on IA64 platforms.

Using the ICP controllers (ISA, EISA, PCI) with Windows NT
==========================================================

Supported products/features:
- Automatic detection of the configuration
- CD-ROM, tape, etc.
- No capacity limitation of drives due to controller
- All features of the GDT controllers
(striping, chaining, mirroing, RAID, etc.)
- Windows NT 3.51
- Windows NT 4.00
Important Notes
===============
- During the complete Windows NT installation, the delayed write function
of the GDT-Controller cache must be disabled ("OFF").
To do this, use ICPCON and the menu option Configure Controller.
After the completion of the installation, the delayed write function
should be enabled ("ON"), again.
The reason for this is an anomaly of some PCI motherboards. When
performing a warm-boot these boards carry out a hard reset of the PCI-bus.
Thus it could happen under special circumstances that the contents of the
ICP cache are not written back to the disks, properly.
- In some situations Windows NT does not ask the controller-BIOS for the
SCSI-hard-disk-geometry (heads, sectors) during installation. Because of
this Windows NT uses the default values (64*32) for hard disks larger
than 1GB during installation. After the reboot the boot-loader does
not find the partition, because the BIOS uses other values (127*63 resp.
255*63).
If this happens you have to rewrite the MBR with MS-DOS "fdisk /mbr" and
start NTPREP.EXE.
Driver Installation
===================

1. Installation of Windows NT on an ICP controller
--------------------------------------------------
- Boot the Windows NT Setup Disk (create with WINNT /OX)
- For Small Business Server Installation the file WINNT.SIF from
the I386 directory of the Windows NT CD-ROM has to be copied to the
second setup disk.
- Choose the setup method 'C=Custom Setup' !
- After scanning of the controllers known by the NT system
choose 'S=Configure Additional SCSI Adapters' !
- Choose 'Other' controller and insert the ICP Driver Disk.
- Now choose 'ICP GDT Disk Array Controller'
The system scans for ICP controllers.
- If you have ICP controllers installed, these controllers will be detected.
- Then you can choose your system configuration (video card, mouse,..).
- After that the system detects the free space on the connected hard disks.
You can choose the partition where you want to install Windows NT.
Please check that the entries (partitions, free space) correspond to the
real capacities of the connected hard disks. When you see absurd values,
then the partition table contains invalid entries and you should do a
surface analysis on this hard disk with the ICPCON program before use.
- Then the installation of the system starts.

2. Installation as an additional controller in a running system
---------------------------------------------------------------
- Choose 'Windows NT Setup' in the main group of your system.
- Choose 'Options','Add/Remove SCSI Adapters','Add','Other' controller.
- Insert the ICP Driver Disk and choose after confirmation
'ICP GDT Disk Array Controller', 'Install'.
- Close the application. After a system reboot the ICP gdtx.sys driver is installed.
