The Windows Version of Firmware Upgrading Procedure.
1. Executive the Flash Program on Win98/Me/2000/XP directly.
Attention !! .. This program can’t work under Win95 / NT !!
2. Select the drive you want to upgrade, please refer to the Fig.1
3. Click “ Flash the drive ! “, please refer to the Fig.1
4. Then you would see the following windows, please click “ OK “
5. Flash Program would check the drive and show “ Please don’t turn off the power. Upgrading firmware… “
6. After upgrading, you would see the following window, it means that your drive already perform the firmware-upgrading job.
7. The last message would show “ === SUCCEED === “, please click “ Exit “ button to exit the program.

How to install windows NT4.0 device driver
1. Login NT 4.0 as Administrator
2. run "A:\nt4.0\nt4inst.bat" at NT DOS command prompt
3. shut down your PC
4. insert the CD-ROM PC-CARD into the socket
5. turn on you PC
Note
1. If your NT4.0 is service pack 1 then your internal CD-ROM drive
will be disable by NT system. So your must update your NT 4.0
to service pack 3.
2. NT 4.0 do not support plug and play. You must insert the PC-CARD
before boot up your system.
3. IRQ resource
3.1 for toshiba
a. Under Windows NT4.0 PC Card resource assignment and plug and play can be
problematic. Hot swapping or Hot inserting and extracting PC Cards will not
function in Windows NT 4.0. So first make sure the card is inserted when
the Notebook powers on and loads Windows NT 4.0.
b. If after the driver is installed and the system restarted with the PC
Card inserted, and the drive is still not seen verify the resources getting
assigned to the card.
c. Now for some Toshiba systems there is a tool on their web site at:

Enter in the model number you are looking for in the Portables box (i.e.
7010), click on GO. Locate the PCMCIA Windows NT utility to download; i.e.
for the Tecra 8000 or Portege 7000/7010/7020 it is the T8KSYSNT.EXE file.
If the IRQ listed is not IRQ9 and you are using a Toshiba Portege 3010/3015
notebook, there is a conflict with their custom Windows NT IDE driver. The
symptom in this environment is that the Card and CD-ROM drive will function
only when the CD-ROM PC Card is inserted in Slot 0 (right side) and the
bundled modem card is inserted in slot 1 (left side)
4 IRQ masker for NT
a. Go to registry by "Start", "Run", "regedt32".
b. Find the "HKey_LocalMachine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Pcmcia"
folder. Use mouse to click on the "Pcmcia" folder.
c. User can add the "InterruptMask" key value by double click on the
int.reg file which is attached with thw mail.
d. The "InterruptMask" is a value belong to "Pcmica" key. It's double word
value with 16-bit value each bit representing the particular IRQ should be
masked or not for PCMCIA card to use. The function is provided to allow user
masking out certain IRQ that is used by system like built-in FAX/MODEM
function that NT 4.0 is not aware of. Each bit has
two value:
1 - disable, 0 - enable.
Manufacurer already set to "0x5A01", a hex value as default.

The IRQ's 14, 12, 11, 1, 0 are used by the system and are not available
for PCMCIA cards.
e. To change the InterruptMask value:
User can find the IRQ is using by PC card from "control panel\pc
card\PCMCIA CD-ROM\Properties\.
Click on the "Pcmcia" folder. Double-click on the "InterruptMask" and
change the value to a new value to exclude the IRQ might be used by system
already.
