Overview
========
Citrix Device Services adds Independent Computing Architecture
(ICA) connectivity over TCP/IP to Windows 2000 Servers. By using
the ICA protocol to deliver Windows applications to your terminal
devices, you gain the benefits of increased application
performance and network efficiency associated with Citrix's
presentation protocol. In addition to basic application
presentation services, ICA adds support for terminal device
printer and COM port mapping. Printer and COM port mapping let
terminal users print to local printers and connect a variety of
peripheral devices to terminal COM ports.

NOTE - Citrix Device Services cannot be upgraded to Citrix
MetaFrame. To install MetaFrame on a Citrix Device Services
server, you must first uninstall Citrix Device Services.

Your Citrix Device Services package includes the following
documentation:

* The Citrix Device Services Administrator's Guide describes how
to install Device Services and how to install and activate Citrix
Device Licenses. The Citrix Device Services Administrator's Guide
is available in Adobe PDF format in the documentation directory of
the Device Services CD-ROM. Using the Adobe Acrobat Reader, you
can view and search the documentation electronically or print it
for easy reference. To download the Adobe Acrobat Reader for free,
please go to Adobe's Web site at http://www.adobe.com.

* The Citrix Licensing Help gives procedural information for using
the Citrix licensing utility. To view this Help, click Start,
point to Programs, Citrix Device Services Tools, and then click
Citrix Licensing. When Citrix Licensing appears, click Help and
then click Contents.

* The Citrix License Activation Wizard Help describes how to use
the Activation Wizard to obtain activation codes for Citrix Device
Licenses. To view this Help, double-click Activation Wizard on
your server desktop and then click Help in any screen of the
wizard.
Usage Notes, Restrictions, and Known Problems

This section includes important last-minute notes and tips. PLEASE
READ IT CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING CITRIX DEVICE SERVICES.

* If you are unable to connect to your Citrix Device Services
server, please see the Windows Event Viewer. Event Viewer logs
error messages and conditions for events such as denial of a
client connection request. In general, please check Event Viewer
at the occurrence of any unexpected behavior.

* The following Citrix products do not work with Citrix Device
Services: Installation Management Services, SecureICA Services, or
UNIX Integration Services.
